The initials were still there, carved in their tree…

Environmental activist Serena Myss thrives on difficult situations, so tying herself to a tree in her hometown to protect a wildlife habitat should be a no-brainer. Except she hasn't been back in five years—not since her brother died. Not since Austin, the man she loved, failed to save him. It's not just any tree, either. Serena and Austin carved their initials in its trunk and shared their first kiss under its canopy. But Serena's not one to let her emotions get in the way of a cause. Even if seeing Austin brings up all the pain she's tried to escape…and new feelings she can't ignore.

Is the past a good thing to save?

The Sweetheart Tree by Rula Sinara is a beautiful story that has a lot of significant meaning. It’s a cute little love story with a few other things mixed in for good measure.

In this novella, we follow Serena Myss and what she wants to know about her ex’s involvement in her brother’s death while trying to save a tree that has been part of her history. Austin Shale is a cop and is trying to help his community the best way he knows how.

Serena Myss

What I like about Serena is that she loves the environment and is trying to preserve it. She also loves her family, although she cared more about the environment in the last few years than being home with her parents. What I don’t like about Serena is that she doesn’t like the demolition of the environment at all, even though sometimes progress is good. Also, Serena blames Austin for what happened to her little brother. She jumped to conclusions and didn’t give Austin a chance.

Austin Shale

What I like about Austin is that he is a cop, who wants to help the community deal with the loss of someone. The one thing that I dislike about Austin is that he does n’t tell Serena the truth about what happened the night her brother dead. I understand he doesn’t want to lose her, but honesty is always the best way.

Five Stars

The Sweetheart Tree by Rula Sinara is another fantastic book. I didn’t care some of the themes in it, but I did like it. This short story makes you think of what you truly know and what happens when you, put too much pressure on yourself.

I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to anyone that loves romances.
