The New York Times bestselling author of The Girl Who Knew Too Much sweeps readers back to 1930s California where even the brightest razzle dazzle can’t always hide the darkest secrets…
New York Times bestselling author Amanda Quick returns to the exclusive seaside community of Burning Cove, where more than one person with a dark past has gone to reinvent themselves. But some secrets are just too deadly to stay hidden, and some pasts can never stay buried.

Sane or Insane? Can she find the truth before it’s too late?

The Other Lady Vanishes by Amanda Quick is refreshingly mysterious. I love a good mystery and this one fits that and exceeds it. The 1930s, Hollywood actors, California coast and intrigue, what more could you ask for?

When I started this book I wasn’t sure what I expected. But I will tell you that I hated putting it down. I had to know who was murdering those people and if Adelaide would be alright. I was up until one in the morning. It is that fabulous.

Adelaide Blake is a wonderful character. She is a young heiress who finds herself locked in a sanitarium against her will. She escapes but must hide as she knows they will come looking for her. I love that she is strong and capable of taking care of herself. She is educated and well-liked, but since her bout, in the sanitarium, she doesn’t know if she can trust her own intuition.

Jake Truett is a very strong character. He plays the Los Angeles businessman in Burning Cove for some rest, relaxation, and to get over the suicide of his wife. Well, at least that’s his story. Jake takes a liking to Adelaide and together they make a great team. Jake is protective, but he also trusts Adelaide to be herself. Jake has his own secrets, but our couple must figure it all out to stay alive.

The mystery is fabulously written, I like to think that I am good at finding the clues and figuring out the mystery before the sleuths. I had most of this one but I didn’t see the end coming. I love the settings, the descriptions of clothes, the cars, clubs, and motor courts. Ms. Quick does an excellent job weaving the mystery and the historical details together.
