BIG EASY MURDER is a novella in the Peyton Clark series.
Peyton Clark’s life is anything but ordinary. And it’s about to get even more bizarre.
As if it weren’t enough to be on the receiving end of the affections of two men, one of whom is deceased, Peyton finds herself in the middle of a murder mystery taking place nearly sixty years earlier.
Ryan Kelly, her very much alive boyfriend, is by her side while the spirit of Drake Montague, a 19th century policeman, is inside her head and her heart. As Peyton finds herself drawn into the shadowy world of New Orleans voodoo, she can only hope she escapes unscathed. Or will she become the victim of another murder in the Big Easy?

What happened to Peter’s first wife?

Big Easy Murder by H.P. Mallory is mysterious short read. I enjoyed the story, and I love the Peyton Clark series. It is so great that H.P. Mallory decided to add to this series.

Peyton Clark

Peyton is a transplant to New Orleans who is rehabbing a mansion. She is in a relationship with Ryan who is alive, but she is also in a relationship with Drake, who is a ghost that shares her body. I know kind of weird, but it works. Drake at times speaks in French, and you can tell that he cares about Peyton.

If you didn’t figure it out already, Peyton speaks to ghosts, with the help of her friends anyway. Although, I don’t think that Peyton likes speaking to spirits, well, other than Drake. However, she does want to help people, and she figures that this is the perfect way to help others.

Peyton is one of those friendly people that you can talk with. She makes friends quickly and if she were a real person I would be one of her friends. Besides she can see and talk to ghosts. How cool is that?

The mystery

Peter MacGregor comes to Peyton through his friendship with Ryan. He is seeking an explanation for his first wife’s murder. Peter believes that she is haunting his home.

To find the answers, Peyton visits Peter’s home and witnesses the murder. However, and one of the things that I like about Peyton is that she now knows the how, but she needs to know the why. Finding the why would be necessary for me too. It’s kind of like the Scooby Doo Mysteries; you know when the kids explain why the masked person was doing the wrong thing. Well, I want to know too. Peyton is extremely curious.

I won’t tell you the why you will need to read the book. But I will tell you that if you have read the first two books, you will have a better understanding of the person who caused the murder.

4 Stars for Big Easy Murder by H.P. Mallory

Big Easy Murder by H.P. Mallory gets a four stars rating. I loved the story I just thought that it ended a little fast, hence the four stars. However, I am sure that the next book Brown Eyed Ghoul will wrap up the rest of the unanswered questions. I truly recommend this series. If you love paranormal, ghosts, voodoo and New Orleans, this is an excellent book for you.

ABOUT HP taken from her website

Hi Everyone and thanks for finding me online!

I’m a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author which means I’ve been able to cross off a couple of line items on my bucket list! Woo Hoo!

I’ve always been a huge fan of the paranormal, especially anything to do with spirits and hauntings.. I get super excited whenever they have those Twilight Zone Marathon days and anything ghost or vampire related will always get my attention. Have a cool ghost story? Contact me and tell me all about it!

My interests are varied but aside from writing, I’m most excited about traveling. I love learning about new places (especially haunted ones) and I’m a huge history buff.

I live in Southern California with my son, an enormous St. Bernard and a really cranky cat.
