Jill Gardner has left her book-and-coffee shop behind to spend Thanksgiving week in coastal Oregon with her cop boyfriend, her golden retriever Emma, and a crowd of friends and family. But before the feast can start, foul play interrupts their vacation . . .

The rented house was supposed to be a relaxing getaway. But Jill and her companions feel a sense of danger instead. First, they learn that their hosts’ son had a fiancée, but her disappearance remains unexplained—and then they meet some menacing members of a local trail-riding club. When one of Jill and Greg’s friends finds human remains amid the dunes—with a diamond ring around one mummified finger—things start heating up fast, and they’ll be thankful just to survive through the long weekend . . .

A Very Mummy Holiday by Lynn Cahoon is a great book to read while your turkey is cooking and relaxing after it is all done.

Will Jill, Greg, Emma, and their friends be able to find out who killed the young lady?

Jill, Greg, Emma, and another couple are spending Thanksgiving together. They have the cabin to themselves until Jill’s aunt and uncle show up. The couples find out some unsavory things about the rental cabin’s owners before going out to drive around on the sand dunes. Jill and her friends all sound like they are a great bunch of people to be with during the holidays. The small coastal town in Oregon makes me miss driving to see the ocean on a spur-of-the-moment trip, but I got my fill of it with this wonderful novella. Jill seems like an excellent character, and I love her to pieces. The fact that she is always near food is funny.

The MysteryA Very Mummy Holiday CR

Jill and her friends launch into an investigation about the girl that they found. Not only that, but they have to keep the other girl in their group safe when they start to see connections. Can Jill and her friends stop the killer before it’s too late? The girl that they found in the dune brings a lot of mysteries. Not only about who she was but about why she got killed? And by who? Was it the rental cabin’s son who killed his fiancee? All of these questions get answered and wrapped up all before Thanksgiving dinner.

Five Stars

A Very Mummy Holiday by Lynn Cahoon is a great short story to read while cooking the Thanksgiving meal or even more after Thanksgiving is done and over with it. I loved everything about this book. Ms. Cahoon gets me every time I had no clue who could have killed that poor girl. I am glad that Greg got the same treatment that he gives Jill almost all the time. Now, he sees how Jill feels about it when Greg does it to her. I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to all readers of cozies.
