As The Two Tails opens, the flock confronts a spiral of death and disappearance. Ensnared by a rapacious raccoon and desperate for a way out, Petunia, the backyard chicken, must throw herself at the mercy of the dark, open road with little more than gumption, a pair of useless wings, and a dubious companion as her guide.

Petunia wants to save Macy, and the flock is going amuck

The Two Tails by Katie Christine is a great novel set in the countryside with a nice cottage and chickens. The chickens are the main focus of this story. In this second installment, we add in other animals as well to this story.

Petunia, the Chicken

Petunia, the chicken, is the main character, and we follow her through her journey of what happened at the end of Claws, Paws, Feathers & Jaws while trying to recover and maybe eventually go back to the coop. Instead, she goes after Macy to save him and ends up with a not so good time away from her little corner of the world. What I like about Petunia in this story is she fights for her friends throughout the whole thing. Well mostly to save Macy.

Macy, the Cat

Macy, the cat, doesn’t spend a whole lot of time here, but he is still a great character. He is a sweetheart especially to Petunia and is a great friend. What I like about Macy is that he allows Petunia to help him and to get her back home to safety.

Samantha, the Chicken

Samantha, the chicken, is the main antagonist of the novel as she has always thought of herself as the rightful leader of the flock and ultimately that happens. However, she is leading the flock into the wrong way of living. Who knows what Petunia will have to do to save her flock once she returns.

Three Star

The Two Tails by Katie Christine did a good job with this book. Mr. Edwards, her husband, did a brilliant job on the illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. Petunia, her friends, and enemies were all fantastic characters. My rating for this book is a three-star rating because it took me a bit to get into it and I didn’t like what was going on in this book. Even though I understand life’s difficulties, especially for chickens I just wanted a happier ending.
