Enter the realm of Scardia, where magic, love and betrayal are all too real.
A kingdom cast into darkness.
A hidden princess, running for her life.
A boy with dreams of becoming a knight.
A devoted guard with secret intentions.Aged seven, Princess Nina Fiordlasher made a wish. Within twenty-four hours her world was changed irrevocably, her parents murdered, her kingdom stolen and her status changed from royal to fugitive. Now, as Nina approaches her eighteenth birthday, she has the right to reclaim her throne. However, her parents’ killer, the Usurper, still hunts for her and so she plans to reunite with her mother’s long-lost family. Accompanied by a devoted companion, Keely, and a young boy Erik, Nina has to overcome her fears and navigate the many hazards in her path. For merely being the Heir to the Ice Flame does not guarantee she can claim her rightful destiny.
The Heir to the Ice Flame by Rose Harvey is about a young girl trying to keep the Usurper from finding her.
Will Nina get to her mother’s people before the Usurper finds her?
Nina Fiordlasher has been on the run for a decade since she made a terrible wish that made her whole life change in the blink of an eye. The closer she gets to her eighteenth birthday, the more the Usurper wants to get her out of his way. Nina knows the only way she can safely escape the Usurper’s control is to find her mother’s people. Even if this feels impossible to the young girl.
I like Nina and how she doesn’t trust many people, especially not after everything she’s been through, but a few certain people do make it past her defenses. Nina is a good character who has seen some growth. Another thing I like about her is that she knows how awful the Usurper is, but still feels like she isn’t ready to do anything about it. The reason I like this about her is that she knows she isn’t ready to take back her kingdom and that she just needs to eventually trust the right people.
I find it funny how certain things happen to Nina that she doesn’t want to happen, but it does. All Nina needs is for people to believe in her and let her see that they can help get things ready for her to make a comeback, which is what everyone wants.
Four Stars
My rating for The Heir to the Ice Flame by Rose Harvey is four stars. It’s an interesting read that I enjoyed; however, I did hope that Ms. Harvey would have included a prologue on the wish rather than glossing over it in the book. Other than that, Ms. Harvey did a great job of making me feel like I was in Nina’s kingdom with her and keeping her company when no one else could.

Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of The Heir to the Ice Flame by Rose Harvey.
Until the next time,
