Someone is trying to sabotage the town of Pumpkin Hollow and when the mayor turns up dead, Mia Jordan is on the case to save the town and catch a killer.

Halloween is celebrated year-round in Pumpkin Hollow, but when rumors of a curse spread through the town, Mia must head them off before they destroy the town's reputation.

A curse on the town, seriously?

Murderously Sweet by Kate Bell is the second story set in the small town of Pumpkin Hollow.

The mayor is dead, some people want to stop the Halloween all year thing, and now the town is cursed. Wow, things just keep happening.

Mia (the sleuth)

Mia Jordan is starting to get into the Halloween groove. She is using her candy making skills more and more. Ethan Banks (a police officer) has asked her out a couple of times. Mia even bought a new Halloween costume.

However, she just can’t seem to stay away from dead bodies, and that piques her curiosity. Mia has to know who killed the mayor. But this time she may get not only herself hurt but her mom too.

I like Mia. She doesn’t have a problem stepping up to help the town out. So, it took her a while to get back home after college, but she made it. I think there may be more in store for Ma before Halloween arrives in Pumpkin Hollow.

The mystery

Mayor, Stan Goodall was murdered and left in the corn maze, where Mia and Ethan find him. Before his death, it seemed like people liked him. However, now that he is dead, his wife is running around town drunk saying how lazy he was, his brother-in-law is arguing with citizens and stalking around. Most of the townspeople have something awful to say about him.

Then someone starts spreading around that the town is cursed. The mazes catch on fire, and everyone is fighting with everyone. It gets worse, then Stella Morrati the baker accuses Mia of being the cause for all the bad happening.

Things are running amuck in the small town of Pumpkin Hollow and Mia is determined to fix the wrong. Well, with the help of Ethan of course.

Ethan and Mia

Ok, they are so cute together. They both obviously like each other, but Mia is cautious. You know Ethan liked her back in school. And doesn’t every self-respecting amateur sleuth need a friend or lover on the police force?

4 Stars for Murderously Sweet by Kate Bell

I liked Murderously Sweet by Kate Bell. However, I figured out who did it relatively fast and didn’t waiver. So, perhaps there could be a few other suspects. I like Mia and the way she thinks. Ethan and Mia are a cute couple. Murderously Sweet is a lovely short cozy mystery. So, if you happen to be a fan like me, this book is worth a couple of hours.
