How can a letter change everything?

That is the question August Summerfield asks himself. After serving as a Secret Service Agent to Presidents Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower, August is enjoying retirement in the quiet community of Mount Gretna, Pennsylvania. When he receives a letter asking for help at Dwight Eisenhower’s Farm, August can’t refuse to help the former president. What he finds is Mrs. Eisenhower’s prize necklace missing, a member of the staff who has disappeared, and a field that the farm hands seem afraid of going near. Is there a connection? Join August Summerfield and his niece, Grace, for their second cozy mystery, Blue Moon Secrets.

Blue Moon Secrets by Allen B. Boyer is a chance for August and Grace to assist the Eisenhowers.

Will August find the pearl necklace before Mrs. Eisenhower returns home?

Our Investigators

Grace

This installment finds Grace faced with her father’s return to her life. She doesn’t know what to do with him there as he makes her grief for her mother raw again.

I like Grace, but she surprised me. I thought she was stronger than her actions at the beginning. Grace literally ran away from her father. However, she faced her demons by the end, proving she truly has grit.

August

Blue Moon Secrets CRThis time, we see parts of August that are usually closed off. I enjoyed getting to know him better. Also, meeting some people from his past made him seem more realistic.

The Mystery

August receives an unsigned letter from the Eisenhower’s farm in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, requesting his help with a mystery on the farm. It takes August a bit to decide to help. Grace surprises them both when she decides to join August on his adventure. The two investigators head to Gettysburg, where we meet some new characters and try to solve a theft. Some of them are people from August’s time in the Secret Service.

Grace even brings a new friend home.

Five Stars

My rating for Blue Moon Secrets by Allen B. Boyer is five stars. Mr. Boyer surprised me with some updates on the characters. I also truly enjoyed the setting and history that August imparted to Grace. If you are looking for a traditional mystery, check out this one.
