The enemy is closer than she realizes…
When a sudden outbreak of human rabies syndrome threatens Haven City, Ciarra Jonatis finds herself in an awkward dilemma. She needs answers, fast, and only one man can help her find them. The one man she loved, lost… and betrayed. As Shield Guardian Levkaseon, she’s responsible for the city’s health, there’s no room for personal conflict, or regrets.
Falsely imprisoned to ensure his silence after discovering an attempt to weaponize the HRS virus, Terran Kaine agrees to assist on the promise of his release and national protection. His rare touch-based talent gives him a unique advantage, allowing him to see inside the human body and identify specific pathogens. But nothing turns out to be easy, especially his freedom. Conflicting anger wars with desire and Terran is faced with a difficult choice. Forgive Ciarra, or let the past dictate the future.
Emotions run high as their buried passions surface. A distraction they can’t afford as treachery finds them at every turn and their research begins to unravel a dangerous truth. One an elusive enemy will kill to keep hidden. Either they trust each other, or lose everything…

Levkaseon by Sarah Westill is amazing. The prequel is wonderfully written, and what an introduction to this world.

Will Terran forgive Ciarra and help her figure out what is happening in Haven City?

Ciarra Jonatis

Ciarra is the Shield Guardianess Levkaseon. She has inherited her father’s genetic talent and his rank. Yet, her father hasn’t truly let her take over. Ciarra knows that something isn’t right, but she knows only one way to figure it out. This one task will change her life forever.

Ciarra is strong, but she has a weak spot when it comes to her father. She has allowed him to rule her life since her mother left them years ago. Ciarra gave up everything she wanted, yet it isn’t sitting right with her now. I think we see a great deal of growth in Ciarra. Although, it took a massive amount of bad things before she could see what was actually happening. I was rooting for her from the beginning. It is so upsetting when parents control their adult children’s lives. Ciarra’s father was such a tyrant.

Terran Kaine

Levkaseon CRWe start the story with Terran in prison for crimes he didn’t do. He has spent the last five years behind bars, and when Ciarra needs his help, he can’t believe that she has the nerve, but freedom is freedom, and he will do it. Terran has a special gen-trait that allows him to see into people’s bodies and track down what illnesses they may have. What an amazing trait. This trait is extremely rare, as only one or two people in each country have it. Terran is also immune to viruses. Talk about the perfect person to figure out what is happening in Haven City.

Terran was once married to Ciarra, so they have some serious baggage. I am a sucker for an underdog, and that is the definition of Terran. Ciarra’s father blindsided him with the allegations and then had him sentenced so fast that he couldn’t even talk to Ciarra. However, Terran’s growth as a character is tremendous. I could see his good nature from the beginning.

The Mysterious Organization

Ciarra’s father is working for someone. He is not the brains behind the organization; he is just another pawn in the big picture. This prequel lets us see how the HRS virus is manipulated. We get a few more clues but still no unmasking.

Five Stars

My rating for Levkaseon by Sarah Westill is five stars. I seriously love this series. Sarah Westill has created a fantastic world, and the characters have this cellular connection to each other. She surprises me with each installment. I can’t wait for Asherwick, which is coming out in June.

I highly recommend this series. It has a little bit of everything, romance, mystery, thrill, science fiction, and some dystopia.

About Sarah Westill

Sarah Westill

Hello! Allow me to introduce myself to the universe, I am Sarah Westill. Christian, wife, mother, author, novice artist, professional photographer, graphic designer (this is actually my ‘real’ job), and teacher!
I homeschool our youngest for a few more months as he transitions from 6th to 7th grade, then I’m sending him to private school for actual 7th grade.

I also dabble in art. I love watercolors and have been tinkering with acrylic for a medium. I discovered I have a minor obsession with Golden paints, and have been investing in the primary colors that are in the same family (warm and cool) to make my own beautiful colors.

I absolutely LOVE to teach littles art. 2nd grade is my favorite. In addition to wanting to please, they actually still listen to instruction at this age and are so proud of themselves when they complete any portion. They aren’t hard on themselves yet, they don’t self-criticize. We can learn a lot from a 2nd grader. They also respond very well to praise and positive reinforcement.

On top of my writing, and my art dabblings, I’m also a semi-professional photographer. I say semi-pro because I haven’t had any official training, aside from working with actual pro-photographers, who helped me learn the ins and outs of exposure, composition, posing and depth of field. I absolutely adore portrait photography. Being able to capture a very human story, a moment in time for a new mother, a new marriage, is such an amazing opportunity and honor.

My job that helps pay for my path to self-publishing is a graphic designer. I’m a cover artist. Long story, but I work under the name Elaina Lee. A lot of people know Elaina the cover artist. I’m proud of that, and really blessed to have worked with hundreds of authors over the span of an entire decade.

I am excited to be starting this journey. To introduce to you my world, my Guardians, and the stories the characters have urged me to write. I hope you enjoy reading them over the coming years as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
