New York Times bestselling author Lynn Cahoon introduces a new heroine with her own special brand of culinary magic in this novella to introduce her Kitchen Witch series.

When Mia Malone’s grandmother asks her to take a week away from her restaurant job and come to Magic Springs, Idaho, she’s happy to oblige. Like Mia, Grans has witchcraft running through her veins, and life with her is never boring. Plus, the cause is a good one—helping Grans get the local food bank up and running again. But there’s an unappetizing surprise in store. While Mia is knee-deep in boxes of donated produce, she encounters the body of Dorian Alexander.

Dorian was a warlock, leader of the local coven. He was also her Grans’ new beau. There’s no potion that’ll make this trouble disappear. But if Mia wants to keep her Grans—now a prime suspect—from serving a spell in prison, she’ll have to unearth the real killer fast. . . .

Chili Cauldron Curse by Lynn Cahoon is an amazing short story introducing a whole new cast of characters and world.

What happened to Dorian? Could it have been foul play so the food bank won’t open?

Mia Malone is our new sleuth, who has a lot more going on than what she thought would happen. She was only supposed to be there for a week to help get the food bank ready to be opened up. Not having to become a sleuth and solving a crime that happened in the food bank building. It’s up to Mia to solve the case while making sure that it still opens in time. She is a great sleuth, and I do love her. Mia is different than the other sleuths that I have read from Ms. Cahoon. I can’t wait to see what happens in the first full-length book.

Chili Cauldron Curse CRThe Mystery

Mia is a witch who works best in the kitchen, but she has to figure out why anyone would kill her grandma’s new beau within this story. Mia has her work cut out for her, as it is a lot harder than it looks. Even if some things she learned by chance from people gossiping around her. Both Mia and I fell for the same red herrings and didn’t realize who actually did it. That is until it was being spelled out right in front of us. This case is a doozy of one, and I need to pay better attention to those clues, as does Mia.

Five Stars

Chili Cauldron Curse by Lynn Cahoon is a fantastic way to start this new series. I can’t wait to read the next book as I am already hooked. Ms. Cahoon does a fabulous job on these series. Mia and the others in Magic Springs, Idaho, are here to stay, I hope. I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to anyone that needs a sweet short read for Halloween night while waiting for those trick-or-treaters.

The recipe is for Woodstove Chili.
