Andie Carson has to do three things to inherit her grandmother’s lottery winnings—sober up, spend a month running her grandmother’s Georgia coffee shop, and enter homemade jam in the county fair. If she can’t meet those terms, the money goes to the church, and Andie gets nothing. She figures her tasks will be easy enough, and once she completes them, Andie plans to sell the shop, take the money, and run back to Boston.

After a rough breakup from his crazy ex-fiancée, Officer Gunnar Wills decides to take a hiatus from women. All he wants is to help make his small town thrive the way it did when he was a kid. But when wild and beautiful Andie shows up, Gunnar’s hesitant heart begins to flutter.

Gunnar knows that Andie plans to leave, but he’s hoping to change her mind, fearful that if her coffee shop closes, Main Street will fold to the big-box corporations and forever change the landscape of his quaint community. But convincing her to stay means getting close enough to risk his heart in the process. Even though Gunnar makes small-town life seem a little sweeter, Andie has to decide if she’s ready to turn her world upside down and give up big-city life. One thing’s for sure—it’s a very sticky situation.

In a Jam by Cindy Dorminy is wonderfully witty, filled with humor, and the perfect heat.

Will Andie and Gunnar figure out what the rest of the Smithsville already has?

Andie Carson

Andie is a mess. The poor girl hasn’t known love her entire life, except for some very young memories of her Granny. She has spent most of her adulthood going from one drunk night to the next. Then her Granny passes away and leaves Andie some lottery winnings and her cafe in Smithsville, Georgia, with stipulations of course.

I was rooting for her from the moment she woke up in that Boston drunk tank. She has a huge heart and seeds to believe in herself. Andie is intelligent, loving, feisty and isn’t going to put up with anyone putting her down. I loved her stubborn streak and how she made fun of her Southern roots while trying to ensure she was respectful and a good person. I would love to be friends with her. However, I am sure you would not find me running the high school track with her, but sign me up for coffee and a muffin any time.

Gunnar Wills

In a Jam CRGunner is a police officer in Smithsville. He has a bit of baggage along with an ex-girlfriend who is a complete lunatic. Andie calls him George Clooney with a twang. He has some great friends in Smithsville who try to protect him from the lunatic and keep him from being alone. Yes, they are matchmaking. It’s so cute. I especially loved when Stanley gave him love advice, and now I will never look at a Skoal can the same.

I like Gunnar. He and Andie are a good match. I feel so bad for the way his ex treated him. But the experience helped make him who he is, which makes him and Andie work so well.

Watch for the Jackson sisters and their blog. Seriously, they catch everything. I was so impressed with them. They use their smartphones more than I do. I love small towns.

Five Stars

I literally laughed out loud numerous times. The situations that Ms. Dorminy puts these characters in are hilarious. I loved the connection between Andie and Gunnar but also the whole closeness of the town. Everyone helping each other out is such a fantastic way to live.

My rating for In a Jam by Cindy Dorminy is five stars. I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Dorminy, and I highly recommend this book and series. I adore happy endings.
