Two best friends, one fake marriage and a solemn promise that it won’t get weird—but that was before the kiss that changed everything…

When Nomi Hannon failed to get her brother off on fraud charges, she not only had to live with losing him but the practice they built together. She's not about to lose anything else—least of all the city council election solely because she's short one spouse.

Who better to stand in as her fake husband than her best friend?

After Malone DuMar’s ex-business partner—also his ex-fiancé—stole his corporation, the ex-CEO has no interest in racking up another former anything. Especially not an ex-Mrs. DuMar. But he can’t say no to the one woman who’s had his back all this time.

Surely he can do this one little favor for Nomi.

But neither of them counted on the whole thing feeling a lot more real than it was supposed to. How can their friendship survive falling for each other when neither of them will admit it?

A fake husband to get life back on track?

Fake Marriage to her Best Friend by Kacy Cross played in my head like a Hallmark movie would do on my tv screen. I loved it, and since it’s short, that makes it even better deal. I found it easy to come back to after a morning of housework, and it was perfect for doing that.

Nomi Hannon

Nomi Hannon is the female main character and the one we follow in some chapters of the book. She is a lawyer who is trying to remake herself so that people will forget her twin brother and the reason why he is in jail. That is a tall order for someone who is trying to be elected to the city council and with a nasty opponent. Instead, her friends, especially one that is a love advice guru, suggest marrying Malone. Supposed to be easy right? Nope. She is in a world of trouble, especially when feelings come into play that shouldn’t be there for her solid oak beam of a friend that she wants to be in her life forever.

The things I like about Nomi is that she tries to keep impersonal because she knows Malone as well she knows herself. Malone doesn’t do relationships or feelings. Nomi seems to be a great lawyer, but she doesn’t bring that into her everyday life. The one thing that I dislike about her is that she knows that Malone doesn’t do touchy-feely, but she might have been had it all wrong. Well, at least the wanting to be with Malone part.

Malone DuMar

Malone DuMar is the male main character and the one we follow in some chapters or scenes of the book. He is a great character that got his heartbroken and can’t seem to move forward. Malone is an inventor who had somethings go wrong with his ex-fiancé Camille, and his business venture. After that, he has chosen to close off and doesn’t want anything to do with feelings. Well, that is until Nomi. It’s with her that he thinks that he does deserve it even if it might be a bit hard to admit.

Do I, Malone DuMar, deserve a good love life with the woman I love? Or do I deserve to cut her off as I did with my inventor’s brain? Those are the two questions that Malone has to figure out for himself. Along with if he wants to go back to inventing.

The things that I like about him is that he is a very passionate person, and Malone strives to live in the moment. For example: when Malone is working at Paulo’s being the pizza server than he does his best at being a pizza server. The one thing that Malone works the most for is being the best fake husband he can for Nomi, which scares him. The idea that I dislike about him is that he won’t talk about Camille so that Nomi or anyone else would hurt him in that way. However, without knowing what hurt him, they won’t know what not to do or how to help him.

Fake Marriage to her Best Friend CRFive Stars

Fake Marriage to her Best Friend by Kacy Cross is a wonderfully romantic read. Ms. Cross has a way with her words that make it seem like a video is playing in my head while I was reading her book. I could picture the characters, their lives in Texas, and where they worked. It was fantastic, and I was able to finish it quickly, which is another plus on its side. I am giving this book five stars since it was tender and delightful.

I am recommending this book to all romance readers of any variety out there. This book is a sweet and clean romance.

About Kacy Cross

Kacy Cross (Author Logo)

I write romance novels starring swoon-worthy heroes that you can share with your daughter, the ladies at church, and your grandmother without fear because my books never contain bad language, violence, or adult content. I live in Texas where I’ve seen bobcats and beavers near my house, but sadly not one cowboy. I’m raising two mini-ninjas alongside the love of my life who cooks while I write, which is my definition of a true hero.

Come for the romance, stay for the happily ever after. My books will make you laugh, cry, and swoon–cross my heart.
