Character Interview with Aurora Anderson

How did you and your author meet?

She approached me right after I solved the murder of my painting teacher and asked if she could tell my story. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but she seemed trustworthy so I told her what happened. She wrote about it in her first book about me, Fatal Brushstroke.

Why did Sybil decide to feature you in a whole series of books?

We are kindred spirits. She’s a former computer programmer so she understands my mindset. And we both live in a beach city so we have a lot in common. I think that’s what attracted her to me, anyway.

Do you have any friends or family helping you out?

My BFF, Liz Dexter, is my partner in the investigations.

Do you have a regular job and investigate on the side or are you a full-time detective?

I am a freelance computer programmer. I do websites, apps, all kinds of things. All my investigating is done when I have time. Since I work for myself and can make my own schedule I work into the wee hours of the morning sometimes when I need to investigate during the day.

What is the funniest thing that happens to you or another character in this story?

I can’t think of anything that I would call funny. I’ll let the reader decide for themselves.

Have you solved other cases or is this your first one?

I have solved five cases before this. I didn’t set out to be an amateur detective. Circumstances made me feel the need to investigate.

Do you have a gift or a special talent?

I’m pretty analytical as you might expect from someone who’s a programmer. I’m also not afraid of using technology to find information. I think that helps me in my investigations.

Who is the most important individual in your life?

I don’t feel I can select only one person. I have several relationships that are important to me. Liz, my BFF, is one of them. We always have each others backs. So are my parents and my boyfriend, Martin.

What is your ideal vacation?

I’d like to try a cruise sometime, maybe to Alaska.

If you could change anything about your life what would it be?

Even though I feel like I’ve done a lot of good solving these cases, I really would like to stop discovering bodies!
