Reluctant family law attorney Jamie Quinn is loving life--and why wouldn't she? Her boyfriend Kip is back from Australia, her long-lost dad finally has his visa and she's about to start her dream job at an art foundation. But it all falls apart when Jamie is accused of stealing priceless art from a rare book collection. If she can't find out who framed her, she can kiss her dream job good-bye--and her law license too. Meanwhile, Kip has problems of his own. Now an environmental activist, he uncovers a deadly secret--one that just might get him killed. Jamie's in trouble, Kip's in danger, and Duke Broussard has gone AWOL. How could Jamie's favorite P.I. abandon her at a time like this?

Malice in Miami by Barbara Venkataraman is a fast-paced, thrilling mystery filled with lots of secrets, romance, and friendship.

Will Jamie lose her cushy new job before she really gets started?

Jamie Quinn

Jamie is starting a new career, but she has to give up her current family law practice, which is easier said than done. She is wrapping up the few cases she has, but then her friend and suite partner ask for her assistance in a paternity case against a powerful man in Florida. Jamie can’t say no.

Jamie’s new job will make her set out of her comfort zone in a different way than Kip does. I think she will be great at it once she gets out of her own way.

Malice in Miami CRSo many things are going on in Jamie’s life:

  • Her father is in the country but having trouble adjusting to life here. So, Jamie is asked by her stepmother to step in and help.
  • Kip is back from Australia and looking for a job. He found his dream job but has to work his way up to it. So, in the meantime, he is hunting pythons in the Everglades. Which freaks Jamie out, but she understands Kip’s need for adventure.
  • Grace, Jamie’s best friend, isn’t talking to her for part of the book. Let’s just say that Jamie underestimated a certain PI, and now she and Grace are in the hot seat.
  • Broussard, the great PI, does some work for Jamie that gets her in hot water. But a big secret comes up for Broussard in this installment, and it actually made a lot of sense. I can so see it.
  • Kip and Jamie get some quality time away, and Jamie learns something about herself that I already figured out.
Five Stars

I really enjoyed this installment. I love Jamie’s inner voice, and being in her head is such a treat. She tells herself like it is. Her new boss loves Jamie’s moxie, and I have to agree that she has that in spades. My rating for Malice in Miami by Barbara Venkataraman is five stars. Ms. Venkataramn has a wonderful writing style and a quick sense of humor. I look forward to the next installment.
