Most know Androma Racella as the Bloody Baroness, a powerful mercenary whose reign of terror stretches across the Mirabel Galaxy. To those aboard her glass starship, Marauder, however, she's just Andi, their friend and fearless leader.

But when a routine mission goes awry, the Marauder's all-girl crew is tested as they find themselves in a treacherous situation and at the mercy of a sadistic bounty hunter from Andi's past.

Meanwhile, across the galaxy, a ruthless ruler waits in the shadows of the planet Xen Ptera, biding her time to exact revenge for the destruction of her people. The pieces of her deadly plan are about to fall into place, unleashing a plot that will tear Mirabel in two.
Andi and her crew embark on a dangerous, soul-testing journey that could restore order to their shipor just as easily start a war that will devour worlds. As the Marauder hurtles toward the unknown, and Mirabel hangs in the balance, the only certainty is that in a galaxy run on lies and illusion, no one can be trusted.

What will happen to this all-girl crew?

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings is out of this world (pun intended). I usually wouldn’t read this type of book, but I am a follower of one of the authors. This book is one that you would see more of a television series like Firefly or Andromeda or something in that nature. In these pages are a handful of fantastic characters. I will be quite honest; when I got this book, I was very intimidated by the mere size of it. 534 pages! And this is just the first in the saga. You see I haven’t read a book this large for about a year.

I had a hard time connecting at the beginning of this book. There is a lot of backstories to get through. However, I overlooked it because I fell in love with the relationships of the characters. Most people always gush over the main characters like “OMG this is the best character ever.” But for me, I loved how the girls of Andi’s crew all were pieces of each other. You couldn’t have this person without that type of person which really got to me. I enjoyed reading about how Andi and Dex had a history and how they were so realistic and true to their personalities and feelings.

The other element that I found very interesting especially for the new authors is how they had the villain, Nor, be so realistic. She is supposed to be the one you want to hate, but in reality, you can understand her pain, motivate and why she is this way. Most of the time author’s don’t show that emotion in their “villain” characters.

Once I got to around the 350 pages area, the story was so alive. Things were heating up with all the conflicts not only personal but worldly as well. I could not put it down. Like no joke I stayed up all night even though I had school and work the next day because I had to find out how it was going to end.

Did I ever find out how it ends…Nope, because they left the book in a cliffhanger!

However, I can not wait to get my hands on Nexus to find out what happens to the girl crew. Will Andi and Dex finally rekindle their torturous relationship? How will the war go between Nor and Andi?

5 Stars

Even though Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings ended with a cliffhanger, I thought it was spectacular. I am so glad that I read it. Oh, and Hollywood, Netflix or a television network should really check this book out. It would be great on the large or small screen.

Check out the next book in The Androma Saga called Nexus. Here’s the preorder link: Amazon
