Truly, Madly, Sweetly a Hallmark Fall Harvest Movie 2018
I am really into the autumn season this year. So, I decided to share my thoughts about the Hallmark Channel Fall Harvest Movies.
Truly, Madly, Sweetly
Directed by: Ron Oliver
Cast: Nikki DeLoach, Dylan Neal, Karen Holness, Bailey Skodje, and Dalias Blake
Network: Hallmark Channel
Air Date: September 22, 2018
Natalie, the owner of a San Francisco food truck business selling cupcakes, and Eric, a finance manager and divorced dad are brought together when Eric’s aunt, also a longtime customer of Natalie’s, passes away and leaves them a building which happens to be the site of a once-famous bakery. Forced into this new partnership, they discover selling the building won’t be easy because it has been declared a historical site. Romance blooms as they spend time together in the process of renovating the old bakery. However, Natalie’s desire to keep things strictly business could put an end to the partnership before the grand opening.
This movie was loosely based off the book Truly, Madly, Sweetly by Kira Archer
My thoughts:
I thought this was a cute Hallmark romance. I love the way that the fall season elements are utilized in the setting.
Natalie was a sweet character. She has serious trust issues after she breaks up with her former fiancée, David. However, she does have confidence when it comes to baking. Her cupcake truck does seem to do a reasonably good amount of business. Sam is Natalie’s best friend, and she tries to keep Natalie moving forward.
Eric seemed at first like a total stick in the mud, but as the movie progressed you could see him opening up to new possibilities. His daughter, Lily was cute and so adorable. I loved the way she just wanted to spend time with her Dad. Eric was getting that at the end of the movie. Eric was pursued by a realtor named Courtney. She tried to come between Eric and Natalie. Eric’s friend, Nick, seemed like a nice guy.
At first, I didn’t think that the actors Nikki DeLoach and Dylan Neal were suited for each other. However, by the end of the movie, I could see that they had come full circle and brought the characters together in a believable fashion. Bailey Skodje was utterly adorable; she has the sad eyes look down.
One thing that didn’t make sense to me was the apartment that Natalie lived in and the clothes that she wore. She talked about how she couldn’t afford to fix her cupcake truck or the cost to park the truck, but if she lived in San Francisco that apartment would cost a small fortune. Sometimes, Hallmark makes everything too pretty I think that it distorts the truth. I thought the parts of Sam and Nick could have been better.
