Mr. Harlan Monroe has a big lawyer team, and one of those lawyers happens to be Daniel Cross. He was told by his boss to go to Second Chance, Idaho, to get three more signatures for them for Harlan’s will. Daniel doesn’t want to go, especially since it’s near the holidays, but he does it anyway, thinking he can get it done quickly. This guy is still sporting heartache from Sam not accepting his marriage proposal and going after his client behind his back.
Samantha Parker
Samantha Parker had so many things happening to her five years ago, and she didn’t expect one of them to be loving someone that wasn’t family. She did do that, but Sam also ruined those chances with her next steps. Sam regrets not telling Daniel the truth. Five years ago, she got the scoop of a lifetime, and now five years later, she needs another story.
I loved learning about Sam and Daniel’s relationship from five years ago to them now. These two are perfect for each other, and even Harlan Monroe saw that.

The Secrets to My Success by Melinda Curtis has a wealthy man playing a matchmaker for his lawyer and his friend. I loved this beginning of the Mountain Monroes series, and I can’t wait to start the first book. These books have been on my shelf since they started coming out. Mr. Harlan Monroe has quite an ace up his sleeve for his grandchildren. This old man loves to play matchmaker. Daniel and Samantha are cute together in the brief story that they have. I am giving The Secrets to My Success by Melinda Curtis five stars and recommending it to anyone that loves a good sweet holiday romance.

Although Melinda has lived in Georgia and Texas, she’s a California girl at heart. Her earliest memories are of life on an isolated 50-acre sheep ranch in rural Sonoma County, California. Picture rolling hills covered in brown grass, a eucalyptus forest, a long gravel driveway lined with plump sheep and no sidewalks. It was a big deal to drive into town on a one-lane road in a ramshackle, bubble-fendered pickup for an ice cream.
Flash forward to this century. Melinda lives in California’s hot central valley with her husband – her basketball playing college sweetheart. With three kids the couple has done the soccer thing, the karate thing, the dance thing, the Little League thing and, of course, the basketball thing.
Melinda writes sweet to medium heat contemporary romances as Melinda Curtis and red hot reads as Mel Curtis. She loves writing romances about women who don’t realize how strong they are until a hero comes along to show them, while capturing the wry humorous power struggle of falling in love – because, really, who lets the man have the last word?
