She's not the country nanny he advertised for
But she could be perfect for him...
Jon Blackwell needs a woman ready to tackle the duties of a cattle ranch and two lively, take-no-prisoners twin girls. But ever since Lydia Newbury showed up at his six-generation Montana spread, the frazzled single father is rethinking, well, everything. The Philadelphia dazzler is a marvel. What he doesn't know is the secret that has Lydia on the run...
A city girl living on a ranch in Montana…it seems a bit farfetched, right?
The Rancher’s Twins by Carol Ross was an excellent book, and I loved every bit of it. I know what you are all probably thinking I’m living in Montana so read a book about a Montana rancher. However, here’s the kicker I live away from where this book take’s place (fictional or not). So, I still get to experience a new area and read a great romance. In the story, we have Jonathon Blackwell born and raised near Billings, Montana. He wants a nanny that knows her way around the ranch while taking care of his two five-year-old girls. Then we have Lydia Newbury a girl from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania taking this nanny job and she is the exact opposite of what Jon wanted. Or is she?
Jonathon Blackwell
He is the main male character of this book, and he is trying to run a ranch, help out his grandfather if needed, and raise his twin daughter. The girls, however, don’t make it easy for him on a daily basis. Jon tries his hardest, which is a good quality in a rancher. He’s doing his best at everything he sinks his teeth into, and it isn’t easy. One of his main goals is finding a nanny that won’t teach his girls things that his ex-wife would have.
What I like about Jon is that at first, he doesn’t trust Lydia because she’s everything that he doesn’t want in a nanny for his girls. Another thing I like about him is that he cares a lot about anything that he does. Like making sure that his girls are well taken care of when he can’t be there to help out. A big thing that I like about him is that he’s family orientated and he is doing good work. However, building your own ranch business is hard labor.
The one thing I don’t like about him is that he is judgemental. He thinks every city-slicker is like his ex-wife.
Lydia Newbury
She is the main female character in this book. Lydia hails from Philadelphia, but she can’t exactly explain or tell too much about her past since she is on the run. I can’t say why as that’s a significant spoiler, but it’s pretty severe. She is an amazing young lady.
What I like about Lydia is that she has done a lot of different jobs and it seems like each one was preparing her for being a nanny to the adorable twins. Another thing that I like is that once she gets there, she does her best at being an excellent example for the girls. She teaches them their alphabet and numbers. I love that she was able to calm the two of them down and make it easier on everyone.
What I don’t like is that she didn’t think of what would happen later on down the road if her past would catch up to her.
Five Stars
This book is my first Harlequin romance, and I loved every bit of it. The Rancher’s Twins by Carol Ross is a perfect one to start off with if you are thinking about reading a Harlequin romance. I love this family, and I can’t wait for more. I am giving this book a five-star rating and recommending it to anyone that loves western romances.
Anyways until the next time enjoy this review brought to you by
