In the thrilling, final installment of the Guardians of Time trilogy, tentative guard members Matt and Rochelle have emerged as crucial players in fulfilling the prophecy of the Named. Matt has learned that he is the son of an immortal, while Rochelle is struggling with her newfound powers and her fear that the group doesn't trust her. In fact, their leader is certain that someone in the close-knit circle is a traitor-but who? As suspicions mount, friction threatens to tear apart the Guard. Will the members of the Named be able to overcome their fears and unite the Guardians of Time in their last stand against evil and chaos?
The Key by Marianne Curley is where everything comes to a head from what has happened in the last two books.
Will Matt be able to lead the Named to victory?
Matt Bennet
Matt Bennet learns a lot about himself and why he is the leader of the Named. He becomes a better person throughout the story and I loved seeing him grow. Matt grew from not wanting someone to break his heart again to realizing that being with the one that he loves is better than not wanting to be with that person. I loved seeing the changes in Matt including growing into his destiny and his powers. There wasn’t anything that I found that I didn’t dislike about Matt.
Rochelle Thallimar
Rochelle Thallimar is still reeling from the fact that she’s actually a part of this elite group for Guardians instead of being with the Order. She isn’t as confident. Although Rochelle is meant to be in the group since everyone doubts her. Rochelle was Marduke’s spy but she was never supposed to be with the Order. Just because her dad was evil doesn’t mean that she is. Rochelle also doesn’t get how they could blindly trust Dillon and not her doesn’t help. I love everything about Rochelle and I don’t think there is anything that I would change about Rochelle.
Five Stars
The Key by Marianne Curley is the third book in this series and the last one for many years. A lot happens in this novel and it kept me on my toes. Not only did I feel bad for our two point-of-view characters but the other characters that they interacted with on a day-to-day basis. Ms. Curley does an excellent job on her stories and making me feel like I’m there with the characters experiencing everything with them. My rating for The Key by Marianne Curley is five stars and I recommend this series to all the young adult fantasy readers out there.
