Christmas Movies – Fun for the Whole Family

This list is of the movies that I have watched growing up. They are a tradition or ones that we watched when I was a kid.

I decided to do something different with my Christmas post this year. So, I am sharing Christmas movies that I watched growing up that anyone can view. These movies are all family-friendly, and that can be watched today or tomorrow. If you are like me, I will probably be watching them this whole week.

White Christmas

White Christmas (1954)

Directed by:       Michael Curtiz

Cast:      Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and Vera-Ellen

After leaving the Army after W.W.II, Bob Wallace and Phil Davis team up to become a top song-and-dance act. Davis plays matchmaker and introduces Wallace to a pair of beautiful sisters (Betty and Judy) who also have a song-and-dance act. When Betty and Judy travel to a Vermont lodge to perform a Christmas show, Wallace and Davis follow, only to find their former commander, General Waverly, is the lodge owner. A series of romantic mix-ups ensue as the performers try to help the General.

White Christmas Movie

First up that I remember watching every year is White Christmas. It’s a family tradition started by my Grandma Tina, and we have kept it going. We watch it at least once a year either on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. If we can’t watch it on Christmas Eve, we always make sure to watch it on Christmas Day. It’s a fun movie, and I always wanted to be like Judy (Vera-Ellen) growing up, and dance like she does. Out of all the cast members, I do like Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney the best. Danny Kaye is hilarious especially the faces he made in his scenes. This movie is a great one though for the whole family to sit down and watch together.

This classic movie is fun for the whole family to watch. It’s another family tradition that we used to watch on Christmas Day. Okay, sometimes we do intend to forget this one but its one that you can watch throughout the holiday season. I have always loved the tale it tells throughout the film. Oh, and it’s a good movie to put on for the kids while you make Christmas dinner or even to watch with them.

I love this film and the way that Frosty and the kids connect. Including how one special girl helps to try to get Frosty somewhere cold so that he can live. This cartoon is another great one to put on for the kids while making Christmas dinner or even breakfast or lunch. If you don’t trust the kiddos then a great one to sit and watch with them.

To me, Christmas isn’t complete without watching Santa Claus is Coming to Town. This movie is great to watch with the kids the night before, the night of, or even after or before Christmas this holiday season. It’s a fantastic movie that has another great message.

On Christmas Eve, divorced father Scott Calvin (Allen) and his son Charlie discover the current Mr. Claus has fallen off their roof. The Santa Clause to me is the one that we always watch right after White Christmas each year. It was my first Tim Allen movie, I believe, and it’s a great movie. Tim Allen did an awesome job, and it has some faces in here that I believe everyone will know. Like Bernard, the head Elf, being Charlie from Numbers. It’s a great Christmas movie that I believe every kid will love. It has another fantastic message in it. Out of the three The Santa Clause movies I have to say this one is my favorite.

Cast:   Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sinbad, Phil Hartman, Rita Wilson, and Robert Conrad

A father vows to get his son a Turbo Man action figure for Christmas. However, every store is sold out of them, and he must travel all over town and compete with everybody else in order to find one.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is awesome in this movie. It’s a great movie that I remembered watching a lot since we had it on VHS. I know I just aged myself. To me, this one is another great movie with a good message in it. I do feel bad for poor Mr. Schwarzenegger’s character in here in some parts of the movie. This film is a good one to watch with the kids after opening presents or even after dinner.
