Sophie-Leigh Robbins About the Author Header

I hope you are enjoying the Oceanic Dreams books and my features of the eight romantic comedy writers.

Our eighth and last author is Sophie-Leigh Robbins.

The Best of You by Sophie-Leigh Robbins is the last book in the Oceanic Dreams series, which I am sad that it has ended. Although, I recommend them all. There are so many wonderful couples that found love on Oceanic Aphrodite cruise ship.

Let’s get to know Sophie-Leigh and don’t forget to check out her upcoming books.

Personal

Tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know?

I don’t only write books, but I also take on narrative design projects for video games. I’m even the lead character of an upcoming narrative thriller for which I did the motion capturing, voice acting, and narrative design. It’s a ton of fun!

What inspired you to start writing?

I’ve been writing ever since I learned how to read and write in primary school. I started with poems and short stories, then went on to write longer stories. You could say I was (and still am) obsessed with books. When I was younger, I used to read about 20 books a month and dreamt of being an author myself. There’s nothing more fulfilling than people reading your books and enjoying your stories. I want to offer readers an escape from real life with laughs, swoons, and heartwarming scenes.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

I’d love to be invisible and observe people. I know that sounds a bit weird, but I love studying people and their reactions. It also does wonders for creating relatable and realistic characters.

Where is one place you want to visit that you haven’t been before (real or imaginary)?

I’d like to go to the Maldives with my family one day. I love tropical beaches! As far as fictional places go, I’d love to visit a town like Stars Hollow (Gilmore Girls) or the Harry Potter world.

Are you a better baker or cook or take out connoisseur?

I love baking, but leave the cooking to my husband. He’s a great cook, and I take care of desserts. Works perfectly!

Which do you prefer?

Tea or coffee: Coffee

Hot or Cold: Hot

Movie or book: Both ?

Coke or Pepsi: Coke

Writing/Books/Series

What do you love most about your writing process?

Seeing my characters and their world come alive on the pages.

Do you like music or silence?

I love listening to music, but I can also enjoy some silence, especially after a busy and hectic day.

Do your characters seem to hijack the story, or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?

Both. I try to have them follow the plot, but sometimes they don’t want to listen. It can be a good thing, though, as they sometimes come up with a more interesting twist or hook.

What knocks you off your writing game?

I can’t write when my kids are at home. I need absolute solitude and concentration for writing books.

Is anything in your book based on real-life experiences or purely all imagination?

It’s all imagination, although I love trickling in some personal references.

What genres do you write?

I write feel-good romantic comedies with heart. They are all low angst and contain no explicit language.

What project are you working on now?

I’m working on my November release and am also plotting a new series that will release in 2020. I’m also doing the narrative design of a new video game that’s set to release in 2021.

Do you have any other books coming out this year?

I do! I have a standalone series releasing in October and November. Both books in this series take place in the fictional town of Old Pine Cove. One is set during Christmas time and the other during spring.

Sophie-Leigh Robbins’s Books

The eighth book in the Oceanic Dreams Series

The Best of You by Sophie-Leigh RobbinsThe Best of  You by Sophie-Leigh Robbins

Publication Date: August 26, 2019
Genre: Romantic Comedy

They may be faking their relationship, but they can’t fake the sparks that fly when they’re together.

Desperate to get away from her cheating ex, travel vlogger Holly books a last-minute cruise to the Caribbean. So what if the only available packages left are part of a singles cruise? It’s not like the crew members can force her to join any of the activities. The further away she can stay from love, the better.

But then she meets Noah, a gorgeous guy who got dumped on his wedding day. He moped around for months until his father booked a cruise and insisted on Noah joining him. Good for Holly, because misery loves company, right?

Well, maybe not misery. Having Noah around completely changes her plans. He even pretends to be her boyfriend to dodge unwanted advances from some very questionable people.

There’s only one tiny problem. Holly didn’t go on this cruise to see if there were other fish in the sea, and getting herself a fake boyfriend was definitely not on the itinerary either.

Instead of choosing which cocktail she’ll be sipping by the pool, she now has a completely different choice to make. Risk getting her heart broken or abandon ship.

New & Upcoming Series

Old Pine Cove

Snowflakes and Sparks by Sophie-Leigh RobbinsSnowflakes and Sparks by Sophie-Leigh Robbins

Old Pine Cove #1
Expected Publication Date: October 3, 2019
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Holiday Fiction, Humorous

One small town. One hot neighbor. One second chance at love.

The best fake snow decorations in L.A.? Done by Suzie.

About to get a promotion? Also Suzie.

Sent to a sleepy small town right before Christmas to save a bookstore? Unfortunately, Suzie again.

Old Pine Cove was the one place on earth Suzie had sworn she’d never return to. Then Suzie’s boss asked her to manage one of their bookstores there. She wanted to tell her no way, but that would definitely lower her chances of being promoted once she returned to L.A. So she sucked it up. Besides, it was only supposed to be temporary. What could possibly go wrong?

Gosh, how naïve of her.

Alex Denverton opening the door with that smoldering look of his, that’s what went wrong. It had been ten years since Suzie had crashed his truck and made a run for it. And now he was back in her life. How was she supposed to focus on work knowing he was right next door? And why did she ever agree to organize the annual Winter Walk with him?

One thing was certain, though. If Suzie wanted to have a magical Christmas, she couldn’t ask Santa to make it happen. It was up to her to decide: go big or go home.

Snowflakes and Sparks is a standalone, smalltown Christmas romance in the Old Pine Cove series, full of humor and heart.
