It’s gonna be a great day! Or, so she thought.

Andi Anna Jones, so-so travel agent, amateur sleuth, doesn’t suspect her least favorite client, Stewart (The Pain) Payne, will set off circumstances that lead to disappearance and death.

After his wife is a no-show for a convention in New Orleans, his threat to sue Graves Travel for “ten times more than it’s worth”, and Andi’s wish to honor one of her late dad’s requests, leads her to The Big Easy in search of Grace Payne.

Five unsolved murders, a body caught in a crawfish cage, and a mysterious candle, magic, and incense shop, takes Andi deep into the bayou on a hunt for clues.

Will another victim be added to a serial killer’s list, or is the main suspect closer to Andi than she thinks?

Interview with Andi Anna Jones

How did you and your author meet?

Mary Cunningham and I met at a travel agency in North Miami Beach, FL. She was, apparently, one of my dissatisfied customers, although she didn’t hold it against me. In fact, she empathized with my lack of focus when it came to the travel business. She spend a horrifying year as a travel agent, and I was forced into the profession when my parents’ neighbor, died and, inexplicably, willed Graves Travel to me.

Why did this writer decide to feature you in a book?

As I said above, she had been in a similar situation and wanted to exorcise some demons, I suppose. Lucky me, huh?

Do you have any friends or family helping you out?

Both my parents are gone, but I have a sister, Georgia, who wants to help, but continually reminds me of her busy life with four kids and a husband who acts like her fifth child at times. Don’t get me wrong. I love my sister, but I think she might be a bit jealous of my lifestyle.

Oh, and then there’s Ruby. The bane of my existence. After my mother died, Dad married this red-headed ‘Queen of the Hialeah Bingo Palace’. The complete opposite of my dark haired, classy mother. Before he died, Dad made me promise to take care of Ruby if something happened to him. I’ve spend the last few years getting her out of trouble. Oh, but don’t get me started.

Would you rather quit your regular job and investigate full time?

Would I ever! I remember my dad and I watching every detective show on TV. From Matlock, to Columbo, to Jessica Fletcher. I longed to be a sleuth! Good thing, since Ruby tests my abilities and my patience on a regular basis.

What is the funniest thing that happens to you or another character in this story?

While it wasn’t that funny at the time, I took an unexpected ride on a Harley motorcycle into the middle of Louisiana Bayou country. I can’t say it was funny, but in looking back, it sure was fun!

Have you solved other cases or is this your first one?

I solved a murder case in Cancun a few months back, but if you think I’m going to spill the details here, you are mistaken! My author has sworn me to secrecy. I can just hear her say, “Read the book!”

Do you have a gift or special talent?

I can usually size up people the first time I meet them. This gift has probably saved me from a lot of dead-end relationships, but I may have missed out on a few good ones due to snap judgments.

Who is the most important individual in your life?

If you’d asked me that before my trip to Cancun, I would’ve said my sister, Georgia. Now, I’m torn. Manuel Gonzales, the gorgeous sheriff I met while looking for clues in the aforementioned murder case, has become the center of my thoughts, feelings, and love life.

Georgia who? Ha!

What is your ideal vacation?

Living in Miami, I’m on vacation every day. However, I do cherish the years my mom, dad, sister, and I spent in Minnesota at our family cabin. I know, however, going back without them wouldn’t be the same. A trip to the mountains of Tennessee or North Carolina would be a nice change from the sun and the surf.

If you could change anything about your life what would it be?

I’d be a little less cynical, especially when it comes to my appearance. I spent too many years being critical of my dishwater-blonde hair, freckles, and imperfect body type, and jealous of Georgia’s dark hair olive complexion and tall, slim features; despite having four kids!

I’m beginning, now, to appreciate who I am. Better late than never, don’t you think?
