Her hero has arrived Even if she doesn’t realize it . . . yet
Widow Jossy Jansen intimidates people, mostly by accident. After all, her soon-to-be sister-in-law refers to her as a cowboy version of Wonder Woman. Jossy can’t help it if she’s strong, capable, and bursting with restless energy. Never one who needed a man to rescue her, Jossy struggles with her feelings for an unlikely knight dressed in Armani.
Life as a corporate attorney has left Nathaniel Knight overworked, stressed, and going soft. He hardly recognizes the person he’s become. When his father insists he help out the small community of Summer Creek, Nate dreads spending time so far from civilization. Then he tangles with a rancher far too stubborn for her own good and far too lovely for his.
Can Nate convince Jossy he’s more than just a city boy out of his element?
A sweet romance brimming with heart, humor and hope, Rescuing the Rancher is a story of redemption, trust, and discovering true love.
Rescuing the Rancher by Shanna Hatfield is a beautiful tale with fabulous characters, a beautiful setting, some mischief, and lots of romance. It is such a lovely touching story.
Will Jossy lose the ranch and her heart? Or will Nate save them both?
Joselyn Tierney Cole Jansen
Jossy is our female lead. She owns the Lazy J Ranch across the lane from Summer Creek Ranch. Jossy always wanted a ranch that she could run the way she wants with horse training just as important as cattle. Emery calls her “a cowboy version of Wonder Woman,” which is so perfect for Jossy. She is independent, intelligent, stubborn, beautiful, and amazing. Jossy has had a hurtful past but is working towards getting beyond it all. Then Nate walks into her life, and she can’t stop thinking about him.
Nathaniel Knight
Nathaniel is our male lead. He is an attorney from Portland whose family has been friends with Emery’s since they were little. Nathaniel doesn’t like nicknames until Jossy starts calling him Nate. He changes throughout the book as at the beginning; he was so involved in his career that he did nothing less than work around the clock. Once he spends sometime in Summer Creek, he gets to know the community and realizes that there is a need for an attorney in town. He likes feeling useful. Nate is very mature in his thinking and the way that he accepts Jossy and her family.
Other Tidbits that I enjoyed:
- Parker’s tricks to keep Jossy for himself
- Hud and Emery’s happiness
- The sabotage at the Lazy J Ranch
- Ethel and the townsfolk’s reaction to Parker’s last joke on Nate and Jossy
- The recipe for root beer pie at the back of the book (maybe I will talk Karen into making it for us)
- The author’s note, where she expands on a few things in the book
Five Stars
I enjoy being in Summer Creek. The little town may look like there’s nothing there, but the citizens are, and they all have such unique and outstanding personalities. My rating for Rescuing the Rancher by Shanna Hatfield is five stars. I highly recommend this book and/or the series for all you sweet romance readers out there.
About Summer Creek
Summer Creek is one of those small towns—the kind brimming with quirky inhabitants, pets with personalities (like a meandering goat named Ethel), meddling matchmakers, tumbling-down old buildings, and dreams. So many dreams. These sweet, uplifting romances explore the ties that bind a community together when they unite for a common purpose and open their hearts to unexpected possibilities. Heart, humor, and hope weave through each story, touching the lives of those who call Summer Creek home.
Readers who love Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series and RaeAnne Thayne’s Haven Point series will enjoy coming home to Summer Creek.
