Armed with new information about her family’s connection to Dagda and Morrighan, from the Tuatha dé Danann, bibliomancer Pippin Lane Hawthorne is more determined than ever to stop the 2000 year old Irish curse on her family.
When reporter Moira Quinn starts asking questions—and then ends up dead—Pippin discovers a personal connection that makes the quest for the truth even more personal.
With the help of her West Coast cousins, bookshop owner Jamie McAdams, and her twin brother, Grey, Pippin is determined to get to the truth once and for all. But the rumblings of the curse are close to home and the clock is ticking for more than one of the Lanes. Will Pippin be able to save her family or will she be too late?
Murder and an Irish Curse by Melissa Bourbon is set during the magical time of the year…Christmas!
Will the Lane family break their curse once and for all?
The Lane Hawthorne Family
Pippin and Grey Lane Hawthorne are joined by their two cousins during this joyous holiday. The stacks that were already toppling over their heads get higher when they find out that Cora is expecting in the next two weeks, making it even more pertinent that they stop the curse now. Pippin wants to break it and finds out more information throughout the story. She may have finally figured it out. Grey is Pippin’s rock through this whole endeavor despite the testing of fate one too many times for poor Pippin’s heart. Lily and Cora are great as well. I have to say that I love this whole family, and I can’t wait to see what else ends up happening with this family.
The Mystery
Pippin meets a reporter, Moira O’Quinn, who has come to Devil’s Cove to ask Pippin some questions. A lot of those questions have to deal with the curse, and I have to say that I was a little worried for the Lane Hawthorne family. Pippin is nervous to answer Moira’s questions and just dismisses the reporter until she finds out that she’s dead as well. Throughout the whole entire story, I had a ton of questions in my head, but I loved this mystery so much. It made me want to keep reading and not do anything else until I found out the truth. The truth about who killed Moira, the truth about their curse, and the truth about whether they can break the curse in this installment.
Five Stars
Ms. Bourbon has written another fantastic edition to this series, and I loved everything about it. Here’s to hoping that everyone can have their dreams realized now. I am giving Murder and an Irish Curse by Melissa Bourbon five stars and a recommendation to everyone who loves a good paranormal cozy mystery with a bit of Irish mythology.
Ms. Bourbon has recipes in the back of the book that should be checked out. They are Hattie’s Harvey Wallbanger and Ruby’s Gluten-Free Cranberry Orange Muffins. I may try to convince Jen if we could make the muffin recipe one of these days!
