Summary:
Ally’s grown fond of Sunshine, the retired service dog she’s been fostering, and now Jake is back from Afghanistan, eager to reunite with his beloved Golden Retriever. Taking Sunshine on a walk, Ally tells Jake how the dog comforted her during a breakup, and Jake reveals how Sunshine got him through a Dear John letter. But their exes want them back and misunderstandings ensue until a Fourth of July party where Ally and Jake wind up kissing under a sky lit by fireworks. Their future seems secure, until Jake is called back into active duty.
My Rating:
My Thoughts:
This film is a cute romance with a touch of the military and dogs. With these great qualities, we have an amazing movie that I enjoyed watching. I adored the fact that they both love animals, especially dogs, and that they are more interested in helping the other out instead of changing them.
Danica McKellar plays Ally, and she is an awesome character. She owns a nursery and is trying to get over her ex-fiance who dumped her over a phone call. She has a good eye for design and can explore that with not only a client but also with Jake supporting her while Ben, played by Peter Benson, doesn’t think she should be doing that. Danica does a remarkable job with this role. And I can’t wait to see her new Matchmaker Mystery Series that is coming out soon.
Mark Deklin plays Jake, and he is another fabulous character. He is in the military and the owner of Sunshine. Sunshine is a retired army dog. Jake and his brother own a landscape construction business where they go in and build whatever a landscape architect needs. That is excellent news for Ally since she needs a company like theirs. Mark Deklin’s portrayal of this character is so perfect.
Danica and Mark have great chemistry on screen, and I actually believed every awkward moment along with romantic moments between these two. Especially their love of Sunshine.
Sunshine is a great dog played by Sawyer, and she stole the show when she was on the screen.
So, if you haven’t seen Love and Sunshine, check it out when you can. I highly recommend it.
