It’s In His Kiss by Julia Quinn is the story of Hyacinth. There is a bit of mystery, love, and family. Hyacinth caught me by surprise.
Will Lady Danbury match her Grandson and Hyacinth Bridgerton together successfully?
Hyacinth Bridgerton
There is no doubt that Hyacinth is intelligent, however, she is a bit of a know-it-all when you first meet her. She is stubborn, unopposed to annoy a person to get her way, but she is also kind-hearted and is not afraid to speak her mind. Hyacinth loves the way she does everything else in life with her whole heart, whether it is Lady Danbury or her family, and hopefully the man she decides to share her life with.
Since we see Hyacinth from a young girl to adulthood, I feel as though I know her and what to expect, but she surprises me constantly. I feel for Violet when it comes to her. Hyacinth while opinionated, is good-humored and a bit reckless. She made me laugh out loud at times.
Gareth St. Clair
He is also intelligent but a rake, much like Anthony was at that age. Gareth is handsome and carries himself well, which one would expect no less since he is Lady Danbury’s grandson. Although he is poor, the only money that he has is what Lady Danbury saved from his mother’s dowery. Gareth’s father has disowned him and they do NOT get along. I won’t go into that but is a bit of a mystery.
I enjoyed getting to know Gareth. His love for his grandmother is sweet. However, he really needs to stop letting his father push his buttons. I think that he and Hyacinth make a lovely couple.
Lady Danbury
I adore Lady Danbury. She is so fabulous with devil care ways and voicing her opinions to whomever she pleases. Then there is her cane which she uses to help emphasize her opinions. Hyacinth spends Tuesday afternoons reading to Lady Danbury, and the two of them are like peas in a pod. The two of them are reading a romance novel of silly proportions. Those scenes are funny.
The thing about Lady Danbury is that she seems gruff and opinionated, ok she is both of those, however, she is surprisingly nice to those that she deems worthy and like Violet, she tries to help the young wallflowers figure their way around. I would so be friends with her as she is one class act.
Five Stars
I love this story. Ms. Quinn does a fantastic job of including just the right touch of mystery. It enhances but doesn’t take away from the romance. Hyacinth, Gareth and all the cast of characters are wonderfully written. My rating for It’s In His Kiss by Julia Quinn is five stars. I highly recommend this book and the series.
