Starting over can be murder.
Darcy Ingram came to the small town of Brookhaven for a fresh start and a safe place to hone her hedge witch powers. She even landed a job at the local marijuana dispensary. But when one of her co-workers turns up dead, suspicion lands on her.
With a hazy memory of the events leading up to the victim's death, Darcy resolves to prove her innocence. With a police chief who doesn't like her and a town who doesn't know her, she faces an uphill climb. But when multiple suspects present themselves, she'll have to rely on more than just her spotty magic to uncover the truth. Aided by the snarky ghost who haunts the B&B and a telepathic chameleon along with some trusted living allies, she sets a dangerous trap that might just lure in a killer.
Is Darcy willing to put everything on the line to keep her new beginning from withering on the vine?
HIGH NOON is the first novel in the Brookhaven Cozy Mystery series. Get ready to sprinkle some magic into your mystery.

High Noon by S. E. Biglow is a fast-paced whodunit with magic popping up around every corner.

Will Darcy determine what happened to Vera before the town turns on her?

Darcy Ingram

Fresh from the United Kingdom and new to magic herself, Darcy has moved to Brookhaven, Massachusetts, to learn more about her abilities and how to control them. Since Darcy found the body of a fellow newbie in town, people think she had something to do with Vera’s death. Darcy is so freaked out by the whole ordeal her magic is now on the fritz. Yet, that doesn’t seem to stop her from continuing the investigation.

Darcy is a great character. She seems suspicious of everyone, but that could be because she is the main suspect. I love that she gets help from Beau, a chameleon, and Sam, a ghost. Although, she does have friends who are there for her when she needs them. High Noon CR

The Mystery

Vera’s death leads to two strange men in town. Is one of them the murderer? Or did a local take out Vera? There are lots of questions about who Vera was. Why did she come to Brookhaven? Our sleuth Darcy is all over town finding clues before the cops. Even though Darcy doesn’t listen often, Maggie and Tania are the voice of reason. Things aren’t adding up, two identifications, high-end jewelry, two social media accounts, lots of cash, a brother, and a fiancee.

Four Stars

I enjoyed the mystery, the characters, and the setting. The magical aspects are my favorite, like Beau and even Sam. My rating for High Noon by S. E. Biglow is four stars. If you have the time, I recommend High Noon, as it is an excellent start to a new series. I hope to get into the next few books before the year ends.
