Wintervail will bring more than gifts and snow…

Evidence of an assassin has gone missing, along with a teenage girl. The only witness to the crime refuses to answer any of Melody’s questions, instead hiring Vayden Dossett, a reward seeker, to recover his daughter. The problem? Months ago, Melody rejected a matchmaking recommendation with Vayden. If Melody allows their past to interfere, she’ll lose the chance to prove she’s capable of handling a tough case.

Vayden is used to the prejudice and scorn his gen-common genetics bring out in people. He wanted Melody to be different. She wasn’t, and he refuses to waste time proving himself to her. Personal emotions have no place when a child has been kidnapped. Finding the girl is Vayden’s only priority, regardless of who he must work with to accomplish the goal.

Setting aside their differences isn’t as easy as setting aside their attraction they soon discover. And while Vayden learns Melody has been lied to about her genetic gift, Melody realizes Vayden isn’t at all what she’s been led to believe. Dark secrets soon to come to light, and with winter creeping in, they’re in a race against arctic winds to find answers…

Ericksen by Sarah Westill gives us more information about the dark group trying to take down the civilized countries in the world. It also gives us another excellent love match.

Will Melody set aside her prejudice for love? Will Vayden teach Melody what love has to offer?

Melody Ericksen

Melody is a police officer. She is sweet, but she is in over her head as she is not an investigator. However, Melody has to find the missing girl, and that means she must work with Vayden then, that is what she will do.

We met Melody in the last story, Asherwick. I am so glad she got her own story, as Melody is a magnificent character. She has such compassion, with some significant prejudice. Melody’s parents should be shot. They are foul people who only want what they can get from their daughter. Their expectations have made Melody’s life hell. One of my favorite parts is when she grabs her strength and stands up for herself and her younger sister to her mother.

Melody’s character growth is through the roof. We see her change even more into a beautiful woman with inner strength and compassion.

Vayden Dossett

Ericksen CRVayden comes from a family of love. His mother and father have the rank and prestige that Melody’s parents want, but more. Vayden is good at his job and has talents that aren’t typical Gen-Heir talents. He doesn’t fit the mold that is expected. So, he must deal with the prejudice of not being the same. However, isn’t different better? We don’t all want to be the same as everyone else. Vayden sees that.

I didn’t see as much character growth in Vayden personally, but how he helps Melody and her sister is monumental. Vayden is a wonderful man alone, but with Melody, together, they are fabulous.

The Story

I love how Ms. Westill brings us closer to figuring out what is happening in the country that continues to cause horrible things. However, the closer we get, the more questions we have. Each installment gives us two people that are matched up perfectly, with a brilliant romance and then this dark force threatening the core of the world’s citizens. Its supernatural elements are ingenious. I adore the mix of paranormal, love, mystery, and good vs. evil. Ms. Westill manages to nail each aspect perfectly.

Five Stars

My rating for Ericksen by Sarah Westill is five stars. I highly recommend this series to all paranormal romance readers out there.

I can’t wait for the next in the series. But until then, there is a spin-off series called Bella and the Beast Master. I can’t wait to read those.

About Sarah Westill

Sarah Westill

Hello! Allow me to introduce myself to the universe, I am Sarah Westill. Christian, wife, mother, author, novice artist, professional photographer, graphic designer (this is actually my ‘real’ job), and teacher!
I homeschool our youngest for a few more months as he transitions from 6th to 7th grade, then I’m sending him to private school for actual 7th grade.

I also dabble in art. I love watercolors and have been tinkering with acrylic for a medium. I discovered I have a minor obsession with Golden paints, and have been investing in the primary colors that are in the same family (warm and cool) to make my own beautiful colors.

I absolutely LOVE to teach littles art. 2nd grade is my favorite. In addition to wanting to please, they actually still listen to instruction at this age and are so proud of themselves when they complete any portion. They aren’t hard on themselves yet, they don’t self-criticize. We can learn a lot from a 2nd grader. They also respond very well to praise and positive reinforcement.

On top of my writing, and my art dabblings, I’m also a semi-professional photographer. I say semi-pro because I haven’t had any official training, aside from working with actual pro-photographers, who helped me learn the ins and outs of exposure, composition, posing and depth of field. I absolutely adore portrait photography. Being able to capture a very human story, a moment in time for a new mother, a new marriage, is such an amazing opportunity and honor.

My job that helps pay for my path to self-publishing is a graphic designer. I’m a cover artist. Long story, but I work under the name Elaina Lee. A lot of people know Elaina the cover artist. I’m proud of that, and really blessed to have worked with hundreds of authors over the span of an entire decade.

I am excited to be starting this journey. To introduce to you my world, my Guardians, and the stories the characters have urged me to write. I hope you enjoy reading them over the coming years as much as I have enjoyed writing them.
