Witch Grace Hobbs, with the exception of her frill-necked lizard familiar, Liz, has spent most of her life alone, but not because she’s anti-social. Nope. She’s cursed. The ghost of her Puritan ancestor’s bitter enemy, Dorcas Hoar, haunts Grace every second of every day. If it wasn’t for her witchy ability to work with plant life, using her magic and know-how to create healing potions for people and plants, Grace would’ve gone stark raving mad.

At least living in the paranormal town of Broken Heart, Oklahoma has given Grace some modicum of peace. An itsy bitsy teeny weeny bit of peace, which is better than nothing. At least until the Queen of the Vampires and the most gorgeous bear shifter she’s ever laid eyes on appear on her doorstep asking for help.

Bear shifter Tabor Standing Bear’s sacred duty to care for Frank, the last remaining living magic tree in North America. But now the tree is dying and with it, the ancient magic that once supported the long abandoned Arkansas town. He never imagined the witch with the wild purple hair and the beautiful gold-brown eyes would bewitch him.

Maybe, just maybe, the magic of a cursed witch and the love blooming between two souls will be enough to save the tree—and build a new sanctuary for parakind.

Perhaps, love does conquer all.

Amazing Grace by Michele Bardsley is a wickedly funny romance. Michele Bardsley has the most excellent sense of humor. I haven’t read one of her books that didn’t have me laughing out loud. Amazing Grace is the perfect start for a spin-off series of her famed Broken Hearts Series set in Oklahoma. Lost Souls and Broken Hearts is in Arkansas, with the same premise as a sanctuary for supernatural beings as Broken Hearts.

Loved it

  • A familiar lizard named Elizardbeth aka Liz, who eats shoes. Talk about taking the fetish to the next step.
  • Dorcas Hoar the ghost of a witch from Salem. Yes, as in the Salem Witch Trials. Oh, and she has a smart mouth.
  • Zerina the fairy with the don’t-give-a-crap attitude and punkish-goth look. What a badass.
  • Bear Shifter, Tabor the guardian of the magical tree. Really what more is to be said he is a bear shifter and wow, hot.
  • Zombie Rabbits!? What do you say, you don’t if you laugh or you could be grossed out?
  • Nard, the slime lord. OK, I don’t know if he is a lord, but slimy is the correct adjective.
  • Rhoda, Tabor’s mother. You have gotta love the mom who can embarrass her son in seconds of meeting his mate. Then there is the fact that she baked cookies and watches Scooby Doo with five-year-old girls.

Grace Hobbs

Our heroine Grace has a crazy ghost attached to her that only she and her familiar can see. Yep, that would be the Dorcas as mentioned above. Dorcas’ goal seems to be to drive Grace crazy like she has the other firstborn daughters of Grace’s line.

Grace has a lovely attitude, and she is quick to love. Therefore, she is instantly drawn to the twin witches dropped on Tabor’s front step. Well, not literally, but you know what I mean. She does this even though her mother put her in boarding school at an early age and didn’t return for her. Let’s face facts here; she was trying to protect Grace from Dorcas.

I was immediately drawn to Grace and her insane existence. You could tell she had a good heart.

Tabor and Grace, make a cute couple.

My rating for Amazing Grace by Michele Bardsley is five stars. I thought it was perfect with the humor, romance, magic, paranormal and the happy ending. I adore happy endings.

If you haven’t read Michele Bardsley’s books, you should. The characters are funny and down to earth with a touch of southern charm (well, southern wit). Yes, that was my recommendation. You should read Amazing Grace by Michele Bardsley.
