First she fell from Heaven. Now she’s accused of murder. What the halo?
Fallen angel Olivia Swift still hasn’t come to terms with the wrongful accusation that got her kicked out of Heaven and stuck in this never ending Renaissance Faire. As she spends her days jousting as the Autumn Knight, the centuries bleed together. But when a routine tilt turns into murder with a packed arena bearing witness, this angel’s endless time in the Kingdom of Elbion could be cut short.
With the help of a criminally minded dove and a chivalrous fellow knight, Olivia has until that night’s Midsummer Feast to exonerate herself by finding the one who framed her. However, that’s easier said than done in a realm with so many spells, secrets, and grudges...
Will this knight complete her quest before the king and queen lop off her heavenly head?
A Midsummer Knight’s Scream by Nova Nelson is about two knights, one angel, one human trying to figure out what happened the other night. Before it’s too late.
Will Olivia and Fabian figure out who is out to get Olivia by the Midsummer’s Feast?
Olivia Swift
Olivia Swift is a fallen angel who came to the Faire to get the candy, which ended up being cursed. Now, she is stuck there with all the other magical creatures. Sir Olivia became a knight to have something to do with her time. Her wings turned into a dove, and now it has a mind of his own. Olivia is a well-thought-out character. I especially liked how a Goddess rules Olivia’s Heaven, and how the author did Olivia’s power situation is pretty awesome too. I feel so bad for Olivia, especially since it seems like her past has come back to haunt her.
The Mystery
Olivia has A few things to figure out. Like, why Lazaraphael was sent to find her? Why was he in another knight’s armor, and why was he acting so drunk? All these questions and more get answered while we follow Olivia and Fabian, the only human in the whole faire, as they track down the clues and suspects. I was right there with them, and I had suspicions about who could have done it, and I was surprisingly correct. Well, after I added and crossed people off with that one name on my suspect list, I wasn’t totally sure of their motive until their motive became clear.
Five Stars
My rating for A Midsummer Knight’s Scream by Nova Nelson is five stars, and I recommend it to everyone who enjoys cozy paranormal mysteries. Ms. Nelson has done a terrific job continuing on this seamless flow from book 1 to book 3 of great characters, mysteries, and love interests. I adored this book immensely and even more so Olivia Swift and her wings that turned into a naughty dove.
