Curses, cats and capers! Can this fledgling witch work her magic to save the faire?
Novice witch, Adelaide “Laidey” Ryan is up to her pointy hat in trouble. A hex lingers over the Renaissance Faire she now calls home, and an ancient prophesy hints that time is almost out for everyone inside the walls. But things go from bad to worse, when her black cat familiar Mort pulls a certain famous sword from the stone…

The same sword that’s used in a murder not a day later. Now Laidey must use her magic to prove Mort’s innocence before she can crack the curse. But when her unfolding powers go awry, she jeopardizes the entire faire’s future.

Will Laidey conjure a cure for the curse, or will this spell the end for the faire and everyone inside?

The Wizard of Menace is the eighth book in the humorous paranormal cozy series, Magical Renaissance Faire Mysteries. If you like hilarious heroines, fun faires, and imaginative mysteries, you’ll love Erin Johnson’s charming whodunit.

The Wizard of Menace by Erin Johnson has the witches trying to break the curse on the Faire. To learn that it may not be as easy as they had hoped.

Will Laidey keep Mort from getting blamed for the murder?

Laidey Ryan and Captain Bruce Roberts

A few of the best things have happened for Laidey since she’s been trapped in the Faire. First, she met her new boyfriend, Captain Bruce Roberts, and they are cute together. The second is that she is a witch and is now learning how to use her magic for the greater good. The third is that she has an awesome best friend that would do anything for her, including standing up to a scary vampire. I have to say that Laidey might be one of my favorite characters that Ms. Johnson has created.

Captain Bruce Roberts is this dashing pirate captain who is finally captain again of his crew. I have to say that I wasn’t too sure about him, but he grew on me as Ms. Johnson created more of these stories. Bruce has definitely changed for the better, thanks to Laidey’s help. Technically, almost everyone that Laidey has touched, besides the murderers, has been better off since Laidey joined the Faire.

The Mystery

A certain event led to Mort pulling out a famous sword from a rock so that Laidey could protect the Faire from a -let’s not say what. Later on, that same sword is used to kill someone. Of course, the Sheriff of their cursed kingdom, being the lazy person that he is, puts his sights on only Mort. Then Laidey has to figure out who killed the person while also trying to break the curse on the Faire. Except even the best laid plans always have something go wrong. For Laidey and her coven, that would be the curse. As for the murderer, though, I did put that together quite quickly after certain building blocks were laid out for me.

Five Stars

I am giving The Wizard of Menace by Erin Johnson five stars and a recommendation to any Renaissance Faire lovers out there. This series is going to be finished with Ms. Silvertale’s last book in the series. I will miss this series, and I have at least three more stories left to read to wrap everything together. The characters Ms. Johnson created for her three books are quite funny, and I love how each character from Ms. Nelson’s and Ms. Silvertale’s all end up crossing into each other’s books like they were all written by the same person.
