Queen Charlotte
Princess Sophie, better known as Queen Charlotte, didn’t want to leave home at such a young age, for she knew no one in England to help her out once her brother left after her wedding. Charlotte is just a teenage girl who many people forget about, since many young girls had to enter society at such young ages back then to help their families. She is an amazing character, and I do like what Ms. Quinn and Ms. Rhimes did to her to make her story relevant for the TV adaptation of Bridgerton. Charlotte had a lot happening to her all at once, but she handled it with grace and held herself well, realizing that she is Queen and holds as much weight as the King.
I love Charlotte.
King George
King George grew up thinking he was unlovable, especially once they find that he was technically mad. George just wanted someone to love him for who he is; he didn’t know that it would be hard on them later. The King is a wonderful character who truly loves Charlotte and wants to get better for her. I like how he didn’t want to give up his pursuits or anything, but fit Charlotte around them. I do like the character of King George. Also, I feel a bit sorry for him, because he was treated badly and endured a lot.
Agatha
Meeting Lady Agatha Danbury when she was just a young girl and just becoming one of the ladies-in-waiting to Queen Charlotte was lovely. I liked seeing their friendship grow beyond what we saw in the Netflix show. Agatha is just a great character who helped not only the Queen but also herself find her way without a husband.
Four Stars
My rating for Queen Charlotte by Julia Quinn and Shonda Rhimes is four stars. I only know the story of the Bridgertons from the Netflix show and from what Jen told me while she was reading the books. Ms. Quinn and Ms. Rhimes did an amazing job of writing this story and putting a fantasy spin on these two historical figures.
