After a tough beginning, single career woman, Jennifer Delaney, has life all figured out. A rocking career in finance, a great group of friends and singing with the community chorus fill her calendar and provide her with total satisfaction. Until the phone rings. Until an upbeat familiar voice from the past reawakens her heart and reminds her of what she’s been missing.

Playwright Doug Collins has never forgotten the girl he left behind. Even though it was Jennifer who’d made that final decision. “Go to New York and have a wonderful life,” she’d said before running back to her family, a family that still needed her. But that was five years ago. Five years of Jen in the back of his mind, nestled in his heart. Now memories are not enough! Doug packs up his car and heads to Boston in search of that “wonderful life.”

Most reunions have bumpy beginnings and not all end well. Jennifer and Doug have a lot to figure out. But they’re smart, honest, and were once madly in love. Do they have a chance at finding the ending they so richly deserve?

Unforgettable by Linda Barrett is a wonderfully written second chance romance.

Will Doug win Jen’s heart again?

Jennifer Delaney

Jen is the second sibling of the five Delaney kids. She has always been there for her siblings, at least since they lost both of their parents in a tragic car accident. Doug lost Jen five years before when she refused to move to New York and leave her family in Boston. But can Jen get past the same obstacle again and again?

I enjoyed Jennifer’s point of view. She hasn’t gotten past her parents’ death, but she has great potential if she can let go of the past. It was fun to watch her fall for Doug again and figure out what is important to her. Her character grows tremendously throughout the story; it is beautiful to watch.

Doug Collins

Unforgettable CRDoug is the oldest in his family. However, he and his parents aren’t close. His relationship with his sister is better. Doug couldn’t forget Jen, so he decides to move back to Boston and show her what she is missing. He plans to court her until she feels the same way she used to feel about him.

Doug is good for Jen. However, he needs to figure out how to let her be part of his entire life. At least include her in the decisions. You can see that he loves her and is willing to do just about anything for her. It is adorable. The ending is definitely happy.

Four Stars

I enjoyed the story, characters, and setting. Ms. Barrett does a beautiful job of getting us to root for Jen and Doug’s love immediately. My rating for Unforgettable by Linda Barrett is four stars. If you are looking for a quick romantic read, I recommend this one.
