During the ongoing Sudanese-Akkadian war, two orphans discover they have magic in a nation where magic is illegal. Volya, a street urchin and thief, must rise to power to quench his thirst for revenge. Nassa, a reclusive orphan forced to serve her uncle, must deny her magic to preserve her life. When the two unexpectedly meet, they can no longer escape their pasts. They set off to discover their futures in a world of romance, vengeance, intrigue and adventure.
The Road Thieves by Harper A. Burge is the perfect beginning to a new series.
Will Volya and Nassa get to where they need to go?
Our two main characters, Volya and Nassa, are orphans, and they are trying to make the best out of the hands that they are dealt.
Volya
Volya is a street urchin and specializes in being an excellent pickpocket. He has a lot to be grateful for in the fact that he got help to get out of his hometown when the Sudanese-Akkadian war first got going. Now, though, Volya probably wishes that he hadn’t gotten help. Volya is a troubled soul in the way that he tries to bury his feelings to make his way of life easier. I have to say that Volya is definitely one who thinks flirting his way out of trouble is a good thing.
Nassa
Nassa, for the longest time, didn’t think of herself as an orphan since she had her uncle. Well, her uncle and his sons. I have to say I felt bad for Nassa at the beginning, with her life at her uncle’s place, until her path and Volya’s crossed. Nassa is one of those characters who has to have a lot go wrong before some things start to go right. I like Nassa, and I hope that she continues to grow in strength.
Five Stars
My rating for The Road Thieves by Harper A. Burge is five stars. I do recommend this book as it is so good. I didn’t want to put it down for anything once I got into it. Volya and Nassa are two characters I would love to continue reading about for as long as Ms. Burge wants. I can’t wait to see where else Ms. Burge takes these two in the next book.

Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of The Road Thieves by Harper A. Burge.
