NEW DYSTOPIAN TRILOGY: BOOK ONE
All his young life, Noah has longed to see the sky he's only heard about in stories. For over one hundred years, Noah's people have toiled deep beneath the Earth preparing for The New Dawn – the historic day when they will emerge to reclaim the land stolen by a ruthless enemy.

But when Rebekah, the girl of his forbidden desire, discovers a secret their leader has been so desperate to keep, Noah suspects something is wrong. Together, they escape and begin the long climb to the surface. But nothing could prepare them for what awaits outside.

BOOK TWO, CLOUD CUCKOO is due out September 2016.

Will they be able to escape?

The Never Dawn by R.E. Palmer is a pretty interesting book. I liked the plot which is why I wanted to read this book. I have been hoping throughout the whole book that something good will happen. For the main character and his sort of love interest, to be able to do more things than what they did. Okay, I know that sentence wasn’t very good but I can’t really spoil anything. Though when you read it you will know what I mean. Despite that the book is awesome and I can’t wait to read the next one.

What I liked about the book:

  • That it is very different from other dystopian books that I have read. This one is different and the one question that I kept asking is if they ever do get out.
  • The book is all in the first person. I think this definitely works very well for this type of book since we go through the same things that the main character does and that works since we can fully be able to understand why he’s the way he is.
  • Another thing that I liked is that his sort of love interest doesn’t see him that way.
  • That you could easily lose yourself in the story and totally lose track of time until you look up to check the time or see the next chapter starting.

What I disliked about the book:

I didn’t like the “Mother” character in this book. The reason for that is she seemed to contradict herself throughout the book and I don’t know I got a bad vibe from her. The other thing that I disliked from this book is the ending. I won’t go further than that but yeah. Since I will try and keep this as spoiler-free as I can.

What I am curious about:

Will the “Mother” find out what they did and if so how will she react?

About R.E. Palmer

Always a tough one – to write about yourself.

Whilst there’s so many varied things that I’ve done over the years, little would be really that interesting to anyone except close family and friends.

So I’ve broken it down to the sections below so you can pick and choose what you want to find out about me – if at all.

The short story

I was born in Solihull, England and after spending a few years working in London and Gloucester, I now live near Bedford. I’m married with two children (one of each, aged 17 and 22). I’ve played many sports since I could first walk including cricket, football, swimming and running, and obtained a 2nd Dan Karate black belt quite some time ago.

I’m a teacher of The Alexander Technique, an athletics coach, and I love to read and write.
