My review of The Kissing Booth Movie and comparison to the book
Hi everyone. Here’s my review of The Kissing Booth movie on Netflix. It is base off of Beth Reekles book called The Kissing Booth. The things that are the same between them are, of course, Elle, Lee, Noah, Rachel, Warden, Olivia, the Kissing Booth at a carnival and a bit of how Elle and Noah start dating. I don’t want to spoil too much about The Kissing Booth Movie, but..oh was so good. It made me cry just like the book did. Happy tears though folks, happy tears!
What I liked about the book:
What I loved about the book is that we have some diverse characters there. I always love it when that happens since it is super fun. The book is during the spring and summer portion of the year which is entirely different from the movie. Remember, this book was written Miss Reekles was only fifteen years old. So, a few years ago now. I love that since it shows a lot of talent and time management skills on her behalf to be able to write a book and go to school at the same time. Then she is from Wales and probably had to do a lot of research about our culture. As I was reading the book, I felt like I was there with Elle experiencing the same things she was because it is in the first person point of view. The last thing that I liked is the whole fact that Noah was trying to be romantic when that isn’t his strong suit.
What I liked about the movie:
I loved the little backstory that they put on at the very beginning of the film. That has to be like my favorite part as wondered what happened to her mom. I love the scenes with where Elle and Lee are playing the dance game at the arcade. That is something that I have always wanted to do. Then their parents being around and involved instead of not being there. It is amazing. That and I loved that Molly Ringwald’s character plays a significant role for Elle. The few scenes that didn’t have Elle in them were excellent since they showed development for those characters. I, even more, liked it because then it gave us a look at Lee feelings as well as Noah’s. I loved the addition of the OMG girls. They were perfect. Just like in the book the movie has diverse characters only not in the same way the book did. I truly loved the prom scene in the film as it was different from the book version of it. I, even more, loved the addition of the rules that Elle and Lee made up when they were six.
Oh and in the movie, Elle is so short, it’s cute.
What I didn’t like about the book:
The stuff that I didn’t care about the book after watching the movie isn’t as long as I thought it would be. The first thing that I didn’t like is that Elle didn’t tell Lee about her and Noah. She knew how Lee felt about Noah and Lee would have understood if she had been honest with him. Another thing that I disliked was that being from Elle’s point of view. The last thing is that we don’t know why her mom passed away just little tidbits here and there about her mom dying, but that’s it.
What I didn’t like about the movie:
What I didn’t like about the movie was that we didn’t know with what Elle’s real name was. Well unless it was Shelley since in the book it was Rochelle and Shelley and Elle are nicknames off of that. I also wished that the cut scenes at the end would have been part of the movie.
Anyways, what are your thoughts on the Kissing Booth? Or if you haven’t seen it yet does this review make you want to see it?
Here is a trailer to help you decide if you want to see it.
Do you want to see it now?
Have you already seen it? If you did watch the movie, did you read the book too? What are your thoughts on either?
Anyway, until next time. I hope you enjoyed this review.
