Hayden Cauldwell

Hayden Cauldwell is, like always, are sleuth and point of view character. I like reading from Hayden’s perspective because we can see how everything is affecting her, from the stories that a weird ghost tells her to the case and about anything revolving around her mom’s disappearance. Hayden is still learning about the islands and her own lineage. I still like Hayden as a character and how she is taking everything in stride. Granted, she’s still getting used to everything, but at least she’s getting better. I wouldn’t mind being friends with Hayden since we seem like we would get along.

The Mystery

Hayden takes on a mystery of how Kerbie Gomez reportedly died a month ago in a fiery car accident but has been found dead in the forest on a trail. It’s one doozy after another as, of course, the mystery isn’t just one but four mysteries. The first mystery is how did Kerbie get from being burned to death to being dead in the forest, the second is who is the mysterious ghost camper popping up to talk to Hayden, the third mystery is how to get Emily back home to her family, and the last mystery is who is the witch that keeps popping up in her own chapters. Okay, the last mystery is more of my own mystery. To further go with the last mystery, not only who is the witch, but why does she want Hayden to go? Most of these questions get answered here, and I definitely didn’t think the person who did it was the person who did it. I so fell for a red herring.

Five Stars

The Ghost Camper’s Tall Tales by Elizabeth Pantley is another fascinating book about the Destiny Falls world that I wish I could visit. It’s a great place to go to and relax from the way it is described. Despite having so many murders happening. Hayden is a great character, and I love following her. Latifa is an adorable cat, and everyone else she encounters is great. The mystery I didn’t figure out who could have done it, which just makes it better. Ms. Pantley did a fantastic job of keeping me entertained and glued to my Kindle screen, trying to figure out what was going on throughout the whole thing. I do have my guesses on some things, but I will keep those to myself. I don’t want to spoil too much for you.
