The Murder Mystery: A pile of old bones is found in an ancient fishing boat. They could be tied to the disappearance of two young women years ago, back when many of the Destiny Falls people where in high school. Many of the citizens had bad history with the students. Do the bones belong to them, and what happened? Were they murdered? And could the murderer be living among them?

Old Bones and Ice Cream Cones by Elizabeth Pantley is Hayden figuring out what is going on with Han and solving a cold case.

Will Hayden find out who the bones belong to and what is happening with Han?

Hayden Caldwell, Latifa, and Lola

Hayden Caldwell is on a mission to figure out what happened with Han once he disappears from his mission, and Bear enlisted her help along with Han’s sisters. She is afraid of losing him and that she isn’t strong enough to stop whatever is happening to him. That is once they figure out what is happening. Hayden is also helping Jaxson figure out who the bones belong to that they found. She has grown a lot from the first book to now, and I love how strong her relationship is with Han. I believe that their bond will be stronger once Hayden frees Han from this mess.

Latifa and Lola are just the sweetest and cutest cats ever. Latifa is such a great momma cat to Lola and is immensely helpful in Hayden’s investigations that they happen to solve together. Lola is so cute in her little girl voice talking to Hayden, and it’s cute that she can speak to them both. I feel that Lola will be a more considerable pain for Hayden than Latifa is.

The Mystery

Of course, we have two mysteries here—the magical one with Han and then the normal mystery. The magical one is very tough, making Hayden realize that she has to do a lot more than she has ever done before to beat whoever has a hold on Han. Hayden’s murder mystery is a decades-old cold case that brings up many bad memories for some of the Destiny Falls residents. I didn’t figure out the murder mystery at all, and I didn’t know which of the red herrings to follow. In my mind, I had no clue who could have killed the nameless person. It wasn’t until it was revealed that it all clicked into place for me, just like it did for Hayden.

Old Bones and Ice Cream Cones by Elizabeth Pantley is a fabulous book that had me guessing from the beginning to the end. Ms. Pantley has done a terrific job with this story. Kudos to her. I am giving Old Bones and Ice Cream Cones by Elizabeth Pantley five stars and recommending it to anyone that loves to read Cozy Paranormal Mysteries. Ms. Pantley has done a fantastic job on this entire series.

Who knows, maybe the witch might be able to redeem herself after all? Guess we shall see in future installments.
