Flying from city to city in her job as a busy corporate trainer for a successful direct sales company, Kenzie Beckett doesn’t have time for a man. And most certainly not for the handsome cowboy she keeps running into at the airport. Burned twice, she doesn’t trust anyone wearing boots and Wranglers, especially someone as charming and handsome as Tate Morgan.
Among the top saddle bronc riders in the rodeo circuit, easy-going Tate Morgan can handle the toughest horse out there, but trying to handle the beautiful Kenzie Beckett is a completely different story.
As the holiday season approaches, this Christmas Cowboy is going to need more than a little mistletoe to win her heart.
The Christmas Cowboy by Shanna Hatfield is a story of finding love and moving forward at Christmas time.
Will Tate show Kenzie who he truly is?
Tate
Our hero is Tate. He is a rodeo bronc rider and a rancher. Tate is also sweet, caring, and movie star handsome. His friends think he is great, but his dad is his number one fan. My favorite thing about Tate is that he has a positive attitude and tries to see the best in everything. Tate isn’t perfect. He can be stubborn and irritable when he gets down.
Kenzie
Our heroine is Kenzie. She was raised on a ranch until her parents split, and she was forced to move to the city with her mom. Now she is a corporate trainer for a skincare and cosmetics company. So, even though she can ride and be a country girl, for the most part, she looks like a business executive, which hides her past well. Kenzie is extraordinarily stubborn; once her mind is made, it takes a lot to change it. This is probably her worst feature, although jumping to conclusions and being judgmental are close behind.
These two make a beautiful couple outside, but more importantly, they click with each other. I enjoyed seeing the growth of both characters and how they incorporate each other into their futures. There were times that I honestly wanted to smack Kenzie. I don’t know how Meghan kept from doing it.
Five Stars
My rating for The Christmas Cowboy by Shanna Hatfield is five stars. I was wholly invested as soon as they met at the airport. It is such a meet-cute. These two go through so much. It was great to see them figuring out their issues. Especially the way that Tate eventually helps Kenzie deal with some of her past. I highly recommend this book and the series.
There is also a recipe for Gingerbread Bars at the back of the book.
Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund
In The Christmas Cowboy, Tate’s injuries leave him sidelined from competing in the rodeo for two months. While he had good insurance and the family ranch to fall back on for income in the story, many cowboys in the sport of rodeo aren’t quite so fortunate. When these professional athletes are faced with serious injuries, it often results in financial hardship. They don’t have a guaranteed salary or provisions for income upon injury. While injuries are part of the business of rodeo, financial worries don’t necessarily have to be.
The Justin Boot Company formed a partnership with the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) in 1989 to establish the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund (JCCF). The fund was granted 501-C3 status as a non-profit charity organization in 1991. The idea behind the JCCF is to assist professional rodeo athletes and their families in the event of catastrophic injuries resulting from professional rodeo activities. The fund helps lift the burden of financial hardship when a serious injury interferes with the careers of those who have dedicated their lives to the sport.
