Three girls, one summer—and the perfect beach read for fans of Gilmore Girls, Jenny Han, and Elin Hilderbrand!
Georgia is bummed to be spending the summer away from her boyfriend, until a local boy catches her eye... Daisy kissed her best friend Owen right before she left for the lake. Does that mean she shouldn't be hanging out with Mateo, the hot older guy who drives her around? Eden is spending her summer in the woods doing a survival course, which was bad enough before she found out that her ex-boyfriend would be there.
Sizzling summer romance: On a sun-drenched dock or in a car with the windows down, anything can happen.
Cozy sisterly love: By the last chapter, you'll feel like a fourth Holliday girl. After all, boys come and go, but sisters are forever.
Small town setting: Spend the summer at Laurel Lake, where everybody knows each other and you can bike from one end to the other in an afternoon.
More to come: Follow the Holliday girls into the Christmas season with the bright wintery romance SANTA MAYBE!
Sparks Fly by Hazel Henry brings together two sisters and a cousin for an exciting summer vacation.
Will Daisy, Georgia, and Eden all have a fantastic summer vacation?
Daisy Holliday
Daisy Holliday is the youngest of the Holliday girls. She’s going into her junior year of high school in the fall. Daisy hasn’t had many romantic involvements at all. She’s a wonderful person who knows what she enjoys when it comes to drinks and snacks. I like Daisy a lot. Daisy definitely grew this summer in how she figured things out about Owen, her best friend.
Georgia Holliday
Georgia Holliday is the oldest of the three Holliday girls. She’s also the planner and the oldest sister of Daisy. Georgia has her summer figured out until Rhys throws a wrench in her plans, and she has to adjust it somewhat to fit everything into their weekends. She ends up trying to make it happen and seems like she’s okay. I also like Georgia and how her story arc unfolds. Especially concerning her, Rhys, and the new boy in town. However, I do feel bad for Georgia.
Eden Holliday
The last Holliday girl is Eden. Eden is the cousin of Daisy and Georgia. She also has grown up in the city and may be a bit of a partier, despite what her parents don’t want to see. Eden is also a few months younger than Georgia and is also going to college, much like Georgia will be at the end of the summer. This Holliday is definitely a wild card in the way she eats a bunch of junk food and drinks Diet Coke as if her life depends on it. Not only that, but she doesn’t have a care in the world about anything. Well, except for her first ex. I have to say, out of all the Hollidays, I was the most excited to read Eden’s point of view, as they were always funny.
Five Stars
My rating for Sparks Fly by Hazel Henry is five stars. I am also recommending it. Ms. Henry has crafted a wonderful young adult romantic comedy about these three Holliday Girls and their adventures. I love how each one is different, and it isn’t until you put them together that their differences make them better together. I can’t wait to see what happens to them this Christmas.
