Episode Plot Summary:
Secrets abound as the Shadowhunters and Downworlders try to get back to normal after Valentine’s death. Clary struggles with keeping her secret about Raziel’s wish, while Alec pushes Jace to come clean about whatever Jace and Clary are hiding. Luke must use tough love to keep his secret hidden from Ollie, who is on the warpath for answers. And Magnus hides his true feelings about his new position in the Warlock community from Alec. Meanwhile, Lilith sets a plan in motion in New York City as Simon spend stime in the Seelie Court.

The scenes that I liked in this episode are:
- Clary gets her angelic rune
- Simon singing to the Seelie Queen
- Clace fight training
- Alec helping Magnus deal with the new High Warlock of Brooklyn
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Izzy finding Doctor Candy
- Clary using the blast of the light rune when chasing after a monster
- Clary going on missions now that she is an actual Shadowhunter is fantastic.
- Izzy being the new Weapons Master.
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Luke’s new partner
- Jace seeing Sebastian/Jonathan
- Lilith’s blood table (so sick)
- Magnus lying to Alec about how he feels about losing the High Warlock of Brooklyn position
- Raphael being rude to Magnus about somethings

Second Episode: The Powers That Be
Premiere Date: March 27, 2017
Episode Plot Summary:
With the Institute under siege by a greater demon, tensions between shadowhunters and warlocks are higher than ever as Alec tries to remain in control of the situation. The Warlocks’ magic becomes corrupted by a demonic presence; Izzy and Luke attempt to track down more information on the recent series of possessions.

The scenes that I liked in this episode are:
- The unplanned double date between Jace, Clary, Simon, and Maia
- Jace confessing to Clary how he truly feels about her
- Simon’s fairy rune
- Alec playing with Madzie at the warlock party
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Jace going to Simon for places to go to take Clary on an actual date
- Clary still doing artwork even though she hasn’t had time to do that
- How the core four of Shadowhunter characters are good teammates
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Jace still seeing Sebastian
- Jace attacking Clary on accident
- Jace not sleeping well due to the nightmares
- Lilith talking to the Owl

Third Episode: What Lies Beneath
Premiere Date: March 27, 2017
Episode Plot Summary:
Simon tries to enter the Seelie realm while Raphael faces a heartbreaking loss. Jace has a suspicion about who this new, unknown Greater Demon may be, which has been nicknamed the Owl. Alec hosts a family dinner with help from Magnus.

- Magnus letting the Lightwoods, including Jace, use his place for a family dinner with the mom
- Raphael visiting his sister
- Alec’s mom accepting Alec being with Magnus
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Izzy going out with Doctor Candy
- Alec making dinner with Magnus helping secretly
- Maryse telling Alec and Magnus that she is okay with being a mundane now
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Heidi is weird and playing with blood
- Luke kicking Simon out of the boathouse
- Heidi escaping from Raphael after he finds out that his sister is gone
- Jace being the Owl

Fourth Episode: Thy Soul Instructed
Premiere Date: April 10, 2018
Episode Plot Summary:
Alec doubles his efforts to find the Owl. Jace begins to fear his hallucinations may hold roots in his past and turns to Luke for guidance.

- Simon meeting Kyle
- Simon moving in with Kyle
- Jace trying to figure out what is wrong with him
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Jace learning more about his mom
- The Praetor’s are cool
- Simon trying not to get into any situations where his mark will go off
- Maia helping Simon
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Jace acting out for Lilith
- Jace thinks he’s going insane as his mom did
- Heidi kidnapping Raphael and torturing him as he did her

Fifth Episode: Stronger Than Heaven
Premiere Date: April 17, 2018
Episode Plot Summary:
Someone is out to get Simon, and Jace is on the hunt to find out who it is, meanwhile Clary turns to Luke to find a way to help Jace. Alec worries about the future of his relationship after learning more about Magnus’ romantic past.
My thoughts and observations of this episode:

- Clary trying to help Jace
- Jace helping Simon with his daylighter (fairy) rune
- Cleo helping Clary with summoning an angel
- Magnus accepting Alec’s apology about going through his box
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Jace and Simon’s friendship
- Cleo wanting to help Clary despite not being able to talk to the angels anymore
- Magnus is worried about Alec
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Magnus helping Lilith with Jace and Clary unknowingly
- Alec is worried about Magnus past loves
- Lilith killing the angel that Clary summoned
- Lilith taking a sliver of Clary’s soul for her potion

Sixth Episode: A Window into an Empty Room
Premiere Date: April 24, 2018
Episode Plot Summary:
Clary teams up with Magnus to investigate a recent demon attack. Simon is stunned when he’s visited by someone he never thought he’d see again, and who now won’t seem to leave. Meanwhile, Izzy worries about dinner with her family and a special guest, and Luke reaches out to Maryse.

- Simon and Kyle training
- Maryse and Izzy talking
- Clary learning the truth especially about the anti-love potion
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Magnus feeling awful about the anti-love potion once he knew about what Lilith did with it
- Maryse talking to Luke about not being a Shadowhunter anymore
- Izzy taking Doctor Candy to a family dinner where he thinks that they are all jewelry makers
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Jace doing what Lilith wants now that Clary can’t stop him
- Jace lying to Alec about his treatment is complete
- Jace going to hurt Izzy’s Doctor Candy as his next mundane for Lilith’s demon/human army
- Luke’s cop partner getting in the way

Seventh Episode: Salt in the Wound

Episode Plot Summary:
With the Owl’s identity revealed, Alec, Isabelle, and Clary head to Alicante to try and find a way to stop him. Luke and Simon team up to track Lilith’s latest possible victim. Maia reflects on her past.

- Shadowhunters figuring out who Lilith is along with Clary and Jace’s secret about Jace dying then coming back
- Maia and Kyle remembering their relationship
- Izzy and Clary getting the cage from Alicante

- Izzy and Clary being good partners together
- Alec, Izzy, and Clary figuring out a way to help Jace
- The past relationship between Maia and Jordan Kyle
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Jace and Clary fighting and Clary landing on a car
- Magnus beating himself up about what he did to Jace and Clary
- Jace killing his grandma in Alicante and having Alec, Izzy, and Clary take the fall for it

Clary awaits judgment while imprisoned by the Clave. Magnus, Alec, and Isabelle try to save Jace. Simon learns more about the queen of Edom.

- Clary touching the sword of truth
- Lilith going after Seelie Queen and Seelie Queen makes a deal
- Lilith hurting Magnus and taking Jace when he is back

Jace is free of Lilith’s control, but the aftermath of the battle has everyone reeling. Simon is determined to rid himself of the Mark of Cain once and for all. Meanwhile, Clary tries to escape her captor.

Twelfth Episode: Original Sin

Simon tried to track down New York’s oldest vampire to get more information on the Mark of Cain; now, in Paris, Clary desperately attempts to find an escape from her current situation; Magnus tries to live life to the very fullest.

- Simon and Izzy go looking for the oldest vampire
- Magnus and Alec fight training
- Shadowhunters finding Clary
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Clary playing along with Jonathon to gain his trust
- Clary in Paris and trying to figure out a way to get away from Jonathon
- Magnus living in the Institute despite not many of the Shadowhunters liking it

- Jonathon moving the apartment so that Luke and Jace can’t find them
- Seelie Queen not making sense to Simon
- Clary getting taken to the France Institute as she is wanted still

Clary tries to find a way to remove Lilith’s rune.

- Magnus working with electronic devices is hilarious
- Alec helping Izzy with her vampire venom addiction
- Luke and Maryse breaking into a safe
- Maia breaking up with Simon and Simon agreeing that it is for the best
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Maia and Simon being good with each other
- Alec not wanting Izzy to deal with her addiction by herself
- Luke and Maryse working together as they used to as Shadowhunters and part of the Circle
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Heidi hurting Nick and getting away
- Jonathon hurting himself to get back at Clary
- Clary trying to get the rune off
- Heidi lying to the new head vamp regarding what happened

Fourteenth Episode: A Kiss from a Rose
Premiere Date: March 18, 2019
Episode Plot Summary:
The Jade Wolf pack is devastated after Heidi’s attack, leaving Jordan and Maia in a corner. Jace encourages Clary to take a break from hunting Jonathan, not realizing that Jonathan has returned to New York. Magnus goes to Lorenzo for a favor.

- Jordan Kyle helping Maia
- Lorenzo giving Magnus magic to help him feel like himself
- Clary and Jace ice skating date
- Magnus and Alec finding out why Jonathan wants the Morganstar sword

- Maia and Kyle putting their differences aside to work together
- Jace and Clary trying to make things work however Jonathon is a sore subject
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Jonathon wanting Clary to him
- Jonathon interrupting Jace and Clary’s date so that he can get Clary away from them
- Jordan Kyle slowly dying because of Heidi’s lies
- Jonathon kissing Clary

Fifteenth Episode: To the Night Children

Episode Plot Summary:
As news of the vampires’ attack on the Jade Wolf spreads, the Shadowhunters spring into action to stop the culprit. When Heidi concocts a plea deal, Maia considers taking justice into her own hands.

- Clary and Jace talking to Luke
- Aline and Clary sparring
- Magnus being jealous
- Maia killing Heidi
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Clary trying not to let the rune control her
- Maia doing some good stuff after losing a lot of her pack
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Heidi starting a war of vampires against werewolves so that she can take over as head vamp
- Heidi almost killing her human friend
- The rune is making Clary do things that she usually wouldn’t
- Raphael saying goodbye to Izzy

Episode Plot Summary:
Clary and Jace come up with a risky plan to get rid of her twinning rune, which may bring an old enemy back into the fray; Alec worries about Magnus.

- Alec begging Lorenzo to save Magnus
- Maryse and Luke being together as a couple
- Izzy and Simon’s pinkie swear as he helps her find out what is happening to other downworlders
- Lorenzo taking his powers back from Magnus

- Lorenzo trying to be helpful with Magnus
- Maryse and Luke trying to navigate this new thing
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Magnus’s body is rejecting Lorenzo’s magic

Eighteenth Episode: The Beast Within

Episode Plot Summary:
A demon outbreak in New York City on Halloween becomes a top priority at the Institute, but as the Shadowhunters hunt the demons, Jace becomes more worried about Clary. Meanwhile, Alec has to juggle the outbreak with his deep concern about Magnus’ depression.

To win Clary back from the darkness that’s overtaken her, Jace joins Clary and Jonathan on their quest for the Morning Star sword. Izzy, Luke, and Simon try to remake the sword Glorious. Magnus is surprised to see his father in New York.

Alec, Jace, and Isabelle make a plan to get Clary back and stop Jonathan finally. Much to Luke’s and Simon’s chagrin, Magnus struggles to deal with his father’s reappearance; Maia must make a tough decision that could affect the rest of her life.

- Meliorn helping Jace get Clary back
- Magnus finds out what Alec wanted him to find out
- Magnus telling off his dad and putting him in the portal

Episode Plot Summary:
As Jonathan grows in power with a new ally by his side, the Shadowhunters and Downworlders must combine their powers, venture to Edom, and stop their foes before they destroy the Shadow World. Wedding bells are in the air for one special couple.

The scenes that I liked in this episode are:
- Simon and Izzy finally kissed
- Alec looking for a way to bring Magnus back
- Izzy going to Edem
The things that I liked in this episode are:
- Clary creating a rune to share downworlder qualities
- Clary, Simon, Alec, Lorenzo, Jace, and Meliorn are sharing downworlder attributes to help them get into Edem
- Luke going back to being a Shadowhunter
The things that I disliked in this episode are:
- Magnus staying in Edem
- Luke taking the vial
- Seelie Queen going after Jonathon
- Izzy has Heavenly Fire in her and can’t touch anything evil

Twenty-second Episode: All Good Things…
Premiere Date: May 6, 2019
Episode Plot Summary:
With his new power, Jonathan wreaks havoc on the Shadow world, targeting institutes around the globe, and Clary must make a great sacrifice to stop him for good hopefully. Meanwhile, wedding bells are in the air for one special couple.

- Lilith dying

- Magnus and Alec getting married
- Simon and Izzy together as a couple
- Clary and Izzy talking about being parabati
The things that I liked in this episode are:

- Clary killing Jonathon and she had white angel wings
- Max calling Magnus his brother
- Max and dad telling Magnus and Alec where Jonathon is
- Alec is Inquisitor
- Magnus is the High Warlock of Alicante
- Maia is Owner of the Jade Wolf and Alpha

- Meliorn being sliced
- Izzy using too much Heavenly Fire

My rating for this episode:
The last season of Shadowhunters was bittersweet throughout the entire thing. The writers of the show stuffed in so many details into this final season. I do have to say after they killed off Jocelyn and changed some things after that point, I wasn’t too sure about this series. I still watched it and loved it, though, since it is one of my favorite book series.

I am truly sorry for taking this long to finish this last post on Shadowhunters. Taking this long was my way of keeping this series going a bit longer. I should have had this done earlier, but I wasn’t ready to let it go. Now I am, and I am proud of what the cast and crew have accomplished. Hopefully, at some point, I will reread the book series as I read them in high school.
