Months after stealing two time machines from a madman who wants them back, the Lanes, a family of seven, seek peace and safety in 1927, the latest stop on a journey through time. For a while, each succeeds.

Parents Mark and Mary find housing in affluent East Hampton, New York, where a gracious elderly couple offers use of their mansion. Son Jordan and his new wife, Jessie, plan a family. Siblings Laura, Jeremy, and Ashley pursue fun and adventure. All form strong friendships with the Prices, a mysterious mirror-image family that lives next door.

Billionaire Robert Devereaux could not care less. Reeling from the theft of his million-dollar devices, he sends a hit man to the past to retrieve his property and rid the world of his former business partner and his troublesome clan.

Randy Taylor, who programs the machines, is determined to stop him. He tries to undermine his boss and save the Lanes, even as he tries to help his mother beat a deadly illness. He pines for the day he can join his fugitive friends and rekindle a promising relationship with Laura Lane.

Filled with romance, humor, and heartbreak, SEA SPRAY follows a modern family on the adventure of a lifetime as they navigate their way through the exciting and often dangerous world of Lindbergh, Gershwin, and Fitzgerald.

Sea Spray by John A. Heldt is about the Lanes trying to make a new life in 1927 without leaving a lot of exposure to their names.

Will the Lanes be able to go back to their own time without being fugitives?

The Lane Family

The Lane family consists of seven people now. They are Mark, Mary, Jordan, Jessie – his wife, Laura, Jeremy, and Ashley. The seven of them are in 1927 trying to make it their new home. Another thing that they are trying to do is to stay under the radar by a whole lot. Why? They are still fugitives and trying to stay hidden so that Robert Devereaux doesn’t send his assassin after them.

They were doing a great job until something went wrong, and they were careless. So much happens in this novel for this family that makes it very sad. Laura was the main sibling to be featured in here, and sadly things didn’t turn out all that well for her. Jordan wants revenge on the assassin after what happened in the past two books.

The Lanes were settling nicely into the 1920s by making friends and actually wanting to buy houses to settle down. Will the Lanes ever be able to do that again? Let it be in the past or the future in their own time?

Robert Devereaux

Sea Spray CRRobert Devereaux still wants revenge on Mark and his family. He will do almost anything to make that happen. Robert knows that someone or someones within the company is restless with the whole thing of chasing after Mark and his family. So he doesn’t want anyone to go to the police before he can pull off, destroying them and getting back his Time Boxes. Robert does have someone in his company wanting to do this. Randy Tyler is trying to gather enough information on Robert and his elite group to send them to jail before they succeeded in any of Robert’s evil plans.

I have to say that each time I read one of these books, he keeps getting more and more deranged. Robert is still wanting the Lanes to be extinguished while wanting to save his grandfather from getting killed. Maybe just maybe, Robert doesn’t realize that his grandfather’s death was part of his grandfather’s destiny. The world just wasn’t ready for time travel. It probably still isn’t in 2022.

Four Stars

Sea Spray by John A. Heldt is a compelling story about seeing the Lanes trying to survive, make friends, and possibly falling in love in the past. While in the future of 2022, we see Randy Tyler trying to keep his mom alive and gathering a lot of information to give to the police to arrest Robert and his team that is trying to end the family that he likes to think of as his own. All of this is happening while Robert Devereaux is trying to find the Lanes in the past and figuring out when he should save his grandfather from dying in Germany. Sea Spray by John A. Heldt deserves four stars and a recommendation to anyone that wants to read it.
