About the real “Operation Christmas Drop”:
Operation Christmas Drop is the Department of Defense’s longest-running humanitarian airlift operation. The tradition began during the Christmas season in 1952 when a B-29 Superfortress aircrew saw islanders waving at them from the island of Kapingamarangi, 3,500 miles southwest of Hawaii. In the spirit of Christmas, the aircrew dropped a bundle of supplies attached to a parachute to the islanders below, giving the operation its name. Today, airdrop operations include more than 50 islands throughout the Pacific.
Operation Christmas Drop is a PACAF event which includes a partnership between the 374th Airlift Wing, Yokota Air Base, Japan; the 36th Wing, Andersen Air Force Base, Guam; 734th Air Mobility Squadron, Andersen AFB of the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii; the University of Guam; and the ‘Operation Christmas Drop’ private organization which leads the fundraising and donations for the operation. Andersen is used as a “base camp” to airlift the donated goods to islanders throughout Micronesia.

My Rating:
My Thoughts:
Kat Graham plays Erica, and she gets told to go to Guam to figure out this Operation Christmas Drop. Her report needs to include if the base is doing anything illegal. Erica is a nice character, and I loved the character.
Alexander Ludwig plays Andrew, and he is in Guam as a captain in the Airforce. Andrew is a funny character, and Alexander Ludwig does this wonderfully.
Kat Graham and Alexander Ludwig don’t really have any chemistry together. Erica and Andrew could be a great couple, but the actors make come across better as friends. Their actors not being great together is disappointing, but I loved their progression through the story.
I love Guam in this movie, and it’s so beautiful. This place is really a paradise, and I loved the story for this movie. Operation Christmas Drop is such a wonderful cause, and I loved how Erica reacts to the people and how she reminds the congresswoman of who she was.
The tale is well put together. I liked the history of Operation Christmas Drop and that Brother Bruce is a real person still helping the islanders out. This is a great movie if you are looking for a feel-good movie.
