With her brother-in-law, Deputy Bill Todd, running against gruff lawman Sheriff Grant in a heated sheriff election, an expecting sister ready to deliver, and a scary encounter with a car thief on her mind – Hannah feels her life has reached its boiling point. But things continue to heat up when she discovers the body of Sheriff Grant — bludgeoned while holding one of her homemade fudge cupcakes — and Bill becomes the prime suspect. Determined to prove Bill’s innocence, Hannah sets out to solve the crime stirring up secrets and scandals, including disgruntled cops, vindictive wives and a trio of dangerous criminals.
Based on characters from the Hannah Swensen Series by Joanne Fluke.
My Rating:
My Thoughts:
Everyone is busy in this film. The sheriff is running to get re-elected; Hannah’s brother-in-law runs to change things; Hannah is gathering recipes from the townsfolk for a recipe book. Then they must figure out who killed the sheriff.
Many things were happening, and apparently, the sheriff was hiding things in his personal life. From each new clue that they unraveled, more red herrings would appear. I guessed who it was halfway through, and I was a bit wrong, but then I changed my mind. The second person I picked did it, though, and it was pretty well hidden with why she did it.
Hannah and Mike were on the same side throughout this installment. Her family is a riot, and even though Hannah told Mike she wouldn’t investigate, she just had to because of her baby sister asking her to.
Alison Sweeney and Cameron Mathison have this fantastic chemistry, which shows through. Barbara Niven is superb. She plays the best moms.
Overall, this fourth movie of Hannah Swenson’s was pretty good.
