My Thoughts:

Like in other Crossword Mysteries movies, I was sucked in and trying to figure out why anyone would want to hurt that man. There were a lot of suspects, though.

Lacey Chabert is great as Tess, and I loved learning a bit more about how Tess works. I love backstories about the characters. It is a nice change than them saying everything in the first movie about them. It reminds me of getting really into a book series and thinking you know the main character but to have them still reveal things to you. Tess’s memory for things that no one would expect her to know is amazing. We uncover a lot more about Tess in this installment, and I like it.

Brennan Elliott is wonderful as Detective Logan O’Connor. He brings so much to the character. Just like with Tess, we find out some new things about Logan. I still like how he embraces Tess helping out with the mysteries even though he doesn’t want her to get hurt. There is no way to stop Tess, though.

The relationship between Tess and Logan is great. I love seeing the little bit of a romance coming up with them both in each new movie that we see. The secondary romance between Tess’s aunt Candace (played by Barbara Niven) and Logan’s dad Chauncey (play by John Kapelos) is great. Dare I say I think that the aunt and dad will be a couple before our showrunners. That is totally fine with me because they are cute together, and they help each other out in their day-to-day lives.

Logan gets a new partner in this movie, and I am not sure how I feel about that. I mean, Tess is his partner, so is this just a drama thing? Anyway, it’s a marvelous mystery. I hope you have had a chance to watch it.
