Eat a crumpet. Check. Say “bloody hell” in an English pub. Check. Solve three murders and fall in love? Definitely not on the list. But when England dishes up murder, even an American girl knows it’s time to channel her inner Agatha Christie.

American Eliza Darcy travels to Merry Old England to partake in a Darcy/Bennet family reunion for one reason: to solve the estrangement between her father and uncle. Not long after Eliza’s arrival and exploration of the vast estate of her ancestors, a dead body surfaces. Murder and mayhem replace afternoon teas and flirting with her British heartthrob. Eliza has every intention of keeping her snoot out of official Scotland Yard business, but when clues to the murder begin to merge with her investigation into her family’s rift, her inner wannabe sleuth self-activates.

With the help of her batty great-aunt and the sexy Heath Tilney, Eliza hurries to untangle the web of lies and secrets. As corpses start to pile up faster than the clues, Eliza fears the estate’s family graveyard will swallow another body: hers.

Murder Most Pemberley by Jessica Berg is a beautiful start to a brilliant series.

Will Eliza figure out Pemberly secrets before the past ruins the future?

Eliza Darcy

Eliza is a descendant of Elizabeth Bennett-Darcy. She and her cat Caesar are going to Pemberley for a family reunion. Seriously, they are going to Pemberly. Yes, in England. And yes, she is taking her cat as her plus one. I think Eliza is fabulous. She isn’t good with dressing herself, but not everyone is, which is why she has her best friend. Eliza has a healthy bit of curiosity, with a touch for sleuth. She enlists her Aunt and cousin to help her figure out what is going on at Pemberley. The three of them are delightfully funny.

Murder Most Pemberley CRMystery and Romance

There is a murder, an attack, a disappearance, things missing from guest rooms, and a highly stuck-up aunt that doesn’t like Eliza. Said Aunt may have been involved with Eliza’s dad and be the reason that Eliza’s dad and uncle don’t talk anymore. Eliza plans to find out everything before she has to head home.

Although, Eliza has found Heath, an Englishman who was visiting a friend in Eliza’s area. The two of them hit it off right away and get closer as the story progresses. Especially since Heath is Eliza’s cousin’s ex-boyfriend, and she is trying to get Eliza and Heath together. They do make a great couple.

Five Stars

Murder Most Pemberley by Jessica Berg is witty, with just enough mystery and balance of romance. I truly enjoyed reading this first book in a new series, and I am looking forward to the next installment. I highly recommend this to all you cozy readers out there.

About Jessica Berg

Jessica Berg

Jessica Berg, a child of the Dakotas and the prairie, grew up amongst hard-working men and women and learned at an early early age to “put some effort into it.” Following that wise adage, she has put effort into teaching high school English for over a decade, being a mother to four children (she finds herself surprised at this number, too), basking in the love of her husband of more than fifteen years and losing herself in the imaginary worlds she creates.
