Life is good in Pine Lakes, Arizona for barista Hazel Hewitt. While her mom and grandma run their family’s cafe, she’s buzzing about town in their new coffee truck with her trusty dog, Latte. But when the body of one of her regulars is found outside her truck, all eyes turn to Hazel.Thankfully, she has her ride-or-die best friend and her detective big brother on her side. Convincing her brother’s new partner, the handsome—and grumpy—NYC detective who just moved to their small town, will be a lot more difficult.Hazel knows she didn’t do it. And if she didn’t do it, then there’s a killer on the loose in Pine Lakes. Pressed for time, can she find the killer and clear her name before her new coffee truck business comes to a bitter end?
Murder and Macchiatos is the first book in the Coffee Truck Cozy Mystery series. Inside you’ll find the perfect blend of family bonds that will warm your heart and whodunit adventures as strong as the coffee.

Murder and Macchiatos by Justine Maxwell is a quick mystery that moves fast but looks to become a great series.

Will Hazel find the killer before she is out of business and behind bars?

Hazel Hewitt

Hazel is a third-generation barista and co-owner of the local coffee shop Bean Around Town. Lately, things haven’t been going well for their family business, but Hazel has started a coffee truck and is currently operating in the black. Things are changing in their small northern Arizona town and Hazel isn’t sure she likes it. Although, her friends and family have her back. Hazel is a good sleuth, she goes and asks the questions that some including herself are afraid to ask. I like that about her.

Hazel strikes me as an intelligent businesswoman with a heart of gold. One day she will find the perfect guy for her, but she doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to do that. Although, perhaps the new detective in town might change her mind. I definitely like her and plan to read the prequel as soon as I can fit it in.

Murder and Macchiatos CRThe Mystery

Mark Showman is back in town with his wife. Hazel and Mark were an item in high school before he cheated and then dumped Hazel for Anna. Shortly after graduation Mark and Anna got married and moved to Pheonix. Mark is poisoned and dies right after drinking coffee from Hazel’s coffee truck. So, the new guy in town decides that Hazel is the prime suspect. As their coffee business is shut down and the town gossips believe the new cop, Hazel decides to clear herself. Who would have thought that high school broken relationships could come back and haunt you?

Five Stars

The mystery was easy to follow, and the red herrings were good. The new detective from New York a possible love interest is nicely played. There is clearly more to that story. I enjoyed the setting, the characters are good and have room for growth. I liked that it was a quick read. It’s nice to not have to stay up late to see whodunit. My rating for Murder and Macchiatos by Justine Maxwell is five stars. I recommend it to all you cozy mystery readers out there.
