Marie's Elderberrry Cordial Recipe

I decided to give Marie’s Elderberry Cordial Recipe a try.

So, the recipe is pretty straightforward. However, I couldn’t find any Elderberries at our local market. So, cranberries it is and all the optional items.

First, gather the ingredients than measure everything out adding it to the jar. Shake it up, and I put it in the basement for a few weeks. The recipe is below along with some additional notes from Vikki Walton, the author of Cordial Killing.

I am not a big drinker, but I could use an immune-boost. Check back in my monthly update for the results as this Elderberry Cordial has to sit for three to four weeks before it is ready.

Notes and disclaimer.

Elderberry is a wonderful plant to have in your yard or on your property. It has many medicinal benefits and uses. The elderberry plant most commonly associated with immune-boosting and flu-fighting properties is the dark berry plant (Elderberry Sambucus Nigra). Elderflower is also used in elixirs, teas, and food.  Elder was the International Herb Association’s Herb of the Year in 2013. It’s usually harvested in September.

Cranberry Cordial CompletedFollow Up

Sorry, I am a little late in getting back to you. However, my cordial turned out great.

Remember that I used cranberries instead of the elderberries. I did find a local health foods store that has elderberries, so next year I will use them.

Anyway, I have been taking a tablespoon each night before bed. I find that I am sleeping better and that I haven’t been sick since. Once I got used to the smell and taste it’s not so bad.

I am not a doctor nor do I recommend that you make and use a cordial. These are only my personal findings.
