Jen's 2024 Reading Challenges

Jen’s 2024 Reading Challenges

Hi Everyone!

2024 is officially here. Yes, I know I am a bit late, but some things have changed for me, and it appears that reading and helping with the Baroness’ Book Trove have been where I seem to be dropping the ball. So, let’s see if adding another reading challenge or two will inspire me to get back in the groove. 🙂

If you want to join one of the challenges below, click the link after “Hosted by,” and it will take you to the challenge page. You can find all the rules there and sign up, too.

Due to the amount of reading challenges that Karen and I participate in, our progress will be tracked on different and separate posts that you can find at the top of the page under “Reading Challenges.”

2024 GoodReads Reading Challenge

2024 Goodreads Reading Challenge

Hosted by: Goodreads

My goal this year will be 52 books.

Goodreads hosts this reading challenge every year. I started participating a few years back. Since my sister and daughters are all readers, it’s like a personal contest between us all to see who reads the most. Karen and my sister, Melissa usually are way ahead of Jessica and myself.

One book a week for me, and as of this post, I am already behind. But I have so many great books on my TBR. It shouldn’t take me long to catch up.

You have to sign up to be on Goodreads, but you probably already are if you are a big reader.

2024 Cozy Mystery Reading Challenge

My goal this year is to complete the 20 main prompts.

One Book Per Prompt ~ Unless you want to check off five prompts with the same book, then go for it. 😉 You challenge your rules, remember.

There are 20 prompts with an extra three bonus prompts. They are on Instagram and Facebook.

2024 Craving the Cozies Reading Challenge

2024 Craving the Cozies

Hosted by: Escape with Dollycas

My goal this year is to enter the Peckish level with 20 books.

Cozy mysteries, or “cozies,” are a sub-genre of crime fiction mysteries in which sex and violence are downplayed or treated humorously, and the crime and detection occur in a small, socially intimate community. The crime-solver is an amateur sleuth, usually but not always a woman, who is thrust into the aftermath of the murder. The protagonist frequently has an occupation or hobby that brings appealing information to the reader.

The challenge runs from January 1st and ends on December 31st.

2024 Cruisin’ thru the Cozies

My goal this year is to become a Level Two (Investigator) with 20 cozy mysteries of my choice.

This year’s cozy mystery reading challenge has two ways to participate. You choose whichever suits you the best: Read cozy mysteries of your choice or read one book from the sub-genres listed on the sign-up post. I am choosing to read those of my choice.

The Mystillery Literary and Athletic Association (MLAA) welcomes you to the first running of the Mystery Marathon! You aim to complete the marathon by reading 26.2 mysteries during the year. (No actual running is required.) One book is equivalent to one mile, and the number of pages is equivalent to the number of steps taken to complete that mile.

My runner’s name is Zooming Jen.

So, what do you think? Will I complete these 2024 Reading Challenges?

Even though these are challenges, remember it should be fun. I believe these RCs’ purpose is to get us to read more and connect with others. So, start reading and join a challenge.

As these posts can get long, Karen has decided to track our progress together for each challenge. Go to Reading Challenges on the above menu, which will give you links to the tracking system.

Until next time,

Jen Signature for BBT
