IT’S CHRISTMAS, EVE

Stars: LeAnn Rimes and Tyler Hines

As interim school superintendent, Eve (Rimes) trims budgets and now she’s in her hometown where it’s personal. Her handsome neighbor Liam (Hines) is a music teacher and Eve feels his program must be cut.

But luckily her friend is married to an IT guy, who’s created a website for donations directly to save the arts program. Launched during the tree-lighting ceremony where Liam’s students will perform, the website could provide the Christmas miracle the town needs.

Already the universe is cooperating. Eve is back home and she, Liam, and his daughter look like they might be celebrating many a future Christmas.

My thoughts:

I liked the plot; I just think that LeAnn Rimes did a terrible job. She just didn’t have that right chemistry with Tyler Hines. Tyler did a superb job. It was like he was carrying the show. The person who did the casting did a fine job, well other than LeAnn Rimes.

Eden Summer Gilmore played Hines daughter and I thought she did wonderfully. The two of them played well together, and it was believable that he could be her father. I also thought that her singing was marvelous. The song that Gilmore sang with Rimes “You And Me And Christmas” was spectacular. I loved the song.

Then the song “The Gift of Your Love” that Eve’s step-dad sang to her mom on their anniversary was so sweet. Oh, Josh Bogert sings “Silent Night” and what a surprise. It was beautiful. However the song “It’s Christmas, Eve” sang by Rimes was terrible. I couldn’t understand the words before she started crying.

Plot points that I enjoyed

“meet-cute” where someone has a cute meeting where faith intervenes
Step-dad writing and practicing the guitar to sing the song for his wife
The mayor bargaining to get her nephew a solo spot in the concert
Concert on Christmas Eve
The website to assist with donations for the school district
Eve’s best friend and her family
Eve and her mother looked alike
Saving the arts departments from being cut

So, there are some excellent points and some bad. I leave it for you to decide if you want to spend your time or not.
